Schedule is Out

This is the first year in FOREVER there isn't a game, especially homecoming, that isn't on either deer or elk opening day. 10/1 and 10/15 are both not home games. Thanks scheduling jerks!

Not to derail the topic as this fairly unrelated...

However, I do recall the game being a warm sunny day and I did have a few adult beverages prior to kickoff...that said, your "looking good" is much different than mine. Even when Josh Allen was in the game, our defense couldn't be described as anything but terrible. EMU moved the ball and put up points at will. We did put up a lot of yards on the ground in the second half (after the game had long since been decided) against what could be argued as the worst rushing defense in the entire country. Josh Allen would not have changed the outcome of that game. It is sad to say, but a 1-11 MAC team (with its lone win over Wyoming) was the much better team on the field that day.

Saying josh Allen would not have changed the outcome is a stretch. You make it sound like EMU would have gotten the same number of possessions had we more than terrible QB. This simply is not true. What happens if we match a score or go on extended drive? Changes complete outlook of game.

Then again, Bohls first season we trucked Fresno for some unknown reason. Beating Nevada was a surprise and shows that we can play better.
 
After getting mauled by NDU and the EMU debacle I was pretty low, but beating Nevada and UNLV made me cautiously optimistic. Basically if we don't get blown out in any single game I'll call that progress. so basically what Ragtime said.

Progress would also involve beating teams Wyoming should perceptively beat. It's become an annual tradition; Wyo losing to 1-2 teams it has no business losing team. Nameless North Dakota. EMU?! Those facts Wyokie posted...my god. That should never happen.

UC-Davis and @EMU...losing those games would have even the biggest Bohl backer skeptical if this is going to work out.

This is year #3. No more losing to inferior programs (on paper at least).
 
I just find it sad that it in the best case scenario that in year 3 we get back to the 5 win mark. I can grasp the entire rebuilding process, but with how weak the conference is year 3 should have better results. To reiterate I believe that 5 wins is the best we can do, with 2 to 4 wins likely. I fear that year 3 brings a change in a coordinator, which will be eerily similar to DC and Glenn eras. Same shit different day.
 
I would think that in a water downed MW, big jumps in progress should be attainable. It seems to me that in a conference with less parity, the slow rebuild gaining one or two wins is how your program grows. In our conference, DC showed that wild fluctuations are possible. Any other teams have wild swings in their record in the last two years?

Actually it did, in pure Wyoming fashion.

Air force in 2013 went 2-10 and in 2014 10-3. That is the best i could find. New Mexico 4-8 2014 to 7-6 2015. San Diego State 7-6 2014 to 11-3 2015.

Clean slate. Not one thing about last year matters now except with respect to coaches job. I hope we can at least beat his first years record.

That is very optimistic IMO.

Brought to mind and made me wonder, when was the last time Wyoming Football exceeded my expectations? I have to think it was (for a season) 1996. For a game - here and there - UCLA, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Virginia all come to mind (thanks Joe Glenn for keeping my donations flowing in).
