I just don't get it. He took over at NDSU in 2003. Bob Babich had 1 losing season out of 6. He had 1, 12 win season.
It wasn't like Craig Bohl took over a wasteland. NDSU was an upper end program for their division and Bohl continued that success while taking it to new heights. I'm not bashing Bohl; I just don't understand why people act like his building project at NDSU was/is at all similar to WYO. NDSU was largely a winning program.

Apples to oranges.
 
Bohl oversaw the transition from D2 to FCS.. dunno how much rebuilding was required, but definitely some retooling.
 
These SBNation previews are usually pretty accurate. It's going to be another tough year, but at least we can expect to start to see some flashes.

Maybe. In 2008 NDSU moved up a division (you didn't mention this above).....and Bohl worked through the transition to deliver winning seasons staring in year #3.

Something happened to your boy Babich in 2002. Bohl took over a 2 win team....but a team that did have some success prior to that season.

Well, Jimmy, Babich isn't "my boy", but NDSU had a long tradition of being pretty good.

Sure they moved up but it wasn't like he had to re-build a losing program. In fact, his recruits from his last class in the lower division and his first class in FCS went on to win 9 games and go to the playoffs. The redshirts form the first class would have won the first NC.

I'm not minimalizing what Bohl had done because it is a tough accomplishment, regardless. However, he did it in a program with a tradition of winning. He didn't rebuild a program or build a program from nothing.

It isn't even remotely similar to WYO. He had upper end budgets and a winning tradition to work with at NDSU.
 
Really good preview. Don't understand a lot of the numbers but prob interesting to look at.

I think there will be an improvement this season. But when we look back honestly at last year it seems impossible not to improve. First time I'd seen a D1 team play a qb that couldn't throw at all, 200 or less pound d lineman, and a linebacker returning kicks. It was almost funny.


Anyone know if they plan to redshirt over street or if his rehab has him ahead? For him I hope he does RS. Hill is about to 2,000 yard his way into the NFL draft this year. Overstreet could come back healthier and with a shot at being the top back as a RS soph
 
I remember a quote by Craig Bohl when he first got here and everyone was saying that it was going to take some time to turn things around. He said, 'we shouldn't think that this is going to take very long'.

I thought that was an interesting thing for him to say.
 
I have faith in Bohl and have from day 1 (obviously, I had some concerns with coordinators, approach to rebuild, etc., but I've always supported Bohl). I'm cautiously excited to see the level of improvement. If last year was an investment, we should start to see a return this next season. The hard part about being a WYO fan is that we really haven't witnessed real progression of a program (at least recently). We haven't really seen the effects of player development like Bohl touts. I hope and believe he isn't selling snake oil, so I hope and believe that we see something this year that we haven't seen before.
 
I know our depth is a little lite this season(still), but if we don't have a rash of injuries, I'm thinking this season might be better than expected. Offense across the board looks much better. Secondary sounding much better with the transfer and Wingard adding weight and experience. Linebackers adding weight and experience. Defensive line - this is my biggest concern. We have some good talent coming off redshirt.
