Rocky interesting article

And honestly, there are formations in the 3-3-5 that are basically 4-2-5 for all intents and purposes; where the one OLB becomes a pass rusher, if not a hybrid OLB/DE. So a few tweaks, and the defense still functions very similarly.

And the way Hoke is cleaning house in San Diego, we might be able to get a little more support on the defensive side as well.

Heard 2nd hand from a not so reliable source that there were Rocky Long sightings in Laramie last night. Did anyone else hear anything? Is Bohl in town or is he out recruiting?

I need a cold shower, my mind is in overdrive

I think it would be smart to announce a hire before signing day, stabilize the situation, and maybe sway some commits

I wouldn't put too much stock into my post. Just a rumor. Was hoping someone could confirm though.

Mississippi State Mike Leach just hired Arnett d coordinator from San Diego State. Wonder if Long turned them down?

Mike Leach and Rocky Long?!?! No way those two could co-exist.

The college football odd couple! Yeah, absolutely no way those two could collaborate.

While I agree, Rocky doesn't want that passing offense on the other side of his defense... The article that started this thread said there was a connection to him and that job. Which makes sense that Leach would then get his d coordinator instead.

Oh wow! New Mexico will be at the top of the conference in a matter of years. Great for the overall conference, tough for us.

I'll give it two seasons before a MW coach complains about the Mountain Division being much stronger than the West Division. 2019 championship featured at best the 4th best MW team, 2020 might be worse.

Here's our answer,

We might not have 2 divisions in future. The bsu fiasco might end up being more than just bsu leaving.
Your point is a good one though. Mountain has been much tougher and on a better trajectory, imo.

Who else might leave?

byu is a bit of a wildcard in all this, imo. We have several schools that I think would entertain the concept of a western division of aac. csu, AF, bsu, and sdsu. 3 of those + byu might be convincing enough for aresco to try two 9 team divisions in football.

Unlikely, sure, but I don't think a bsu +1 isnt out of the realm of possibility. It will be interesting.

Interesting. I don't know enough details about this stuff to really talk intelligently, but I wouldn't think CSU would go anywhere unless it was to a P5 (not many teams would turn that down I don't think). I've heard some ramblings that AFA is not happy - but I don't know about that. They compete well in the MWC and would probably be a small fish in a big pond in a P5.

I just don't see what an AAC switch would really do for those two. SDSU and BSU are full of themselves and don't really have any regional ties. They would probably go where their ego shines the most. BYU - who the hell knows.
