I can see Barne's redshirting to improve his game, but not sure if he will make that choice. And, IMO, Lieb's has been playing much better as of late. He is starting to hit some shots...something he hadn't been doing.

Looking forward to see Conway and Moemeka next year. Conway is going to be the fastest player in the league IMO.

I agree I think Lieberman has improved a lot since the beginning of the year. He has been looking for his shot more and knocking some of them down.

As far as Conway starting next year it won't be happening. He will come off the bench.

Coaching staff thinks Lieberman is very good defensively.

Next years starters will be Lieberman, Gorski, James, Jmac and Herndon or Lieberman, James, JMac, Herndon, Naughton.

You should all know that by now. No way will a freshman be starting over a 4th year Junior. That's not how this coaching staff rolls. Only thing that would change this starting line up would be if someone quit the team or got told they needed to leave and Shyatt brought in a JC big man or transfer.
This blows my mind. He's capable of playing 30 min and not even getting 1 rebound. He's small and slow.
And rather unathletic.... He's Riley Grabau without a consistent shot or Video Game free throw stats....

Looking at his stats he is very similar to what Grabau was his sophomore year.
3pt% Grabau .323 Liebs .370
FT% Grabau .740 Liebs .714
Rebs Grabau 1.0 Liebs 1.6
Pts Grabau 6 Liebs 3.5 (But Grabau averaged 30 minutes a game while Lieberman is aberageing 18)
Asist to turnover favors Grabau by quite a bit however. 2 to 1 to 1 to one. That is one thing Lieberman has had some real issues.
I'm not here necessarily trying to defend Lieberman just pointing out stats. We have the benefit of remembering Grabau as a senior but you can't really compare him as a senior to Lieberman as a Sophmore. I think Lieberman can be a good player for us. Players in the system seem to take a big jump between their sophomore to junior year. Will Lieberman turn out to be a good player? I don't know but I think he can.
I guess the biggest issue I have is that he tore it up this summer over seas. There were highlight videos with him scoring 15+ points and dishing the ball everywhere and looking like a stud. We just havent seen that so far back in Laramie. I have no doubt he will progress and be a productive player its just frustrating when he showed this past summer he should be producing now.
My issue is there's better people sitting on the bench. Like James and Washington.
I agree with you on James.

Has Barnes or the coaching staff commented on why he doesn't want to redshirt? A year of just working on his game would hopefully do wonders.

I'm sure the coaches have tried but curious why he doesn't think he needs a redshirt year.

That A/TO ratio is a pretty big deal when discussing two players that have almost no offensive impact and are minus defenders (at least at that stage in their respective careers, Grabau improved quite a bit as an upperclassmen). IOW, the only thing that they are really bringing to the table is ball handling and getting the offense into their sets and the ball moving in the right direction. Grabau was far superior to Lieberman who not only turns the ball over, but spends an inordinate amount of time dribbling. It probably wouldn't be notable on most teams, but after 4.5 years of watching Shyatt coached teams, watching a guard waste 10 seconds dribbling in circles is very noticeable. If Lieberman patterns his game after Grabau he can be a solid role player, if he tries to be the next Steve Nash, there are other more team oriented guys that could use those minutes.

According to the stats. James and Liebs are averaging about the same minutes a game. Around 18ish. Plus they don't play the same position. I know we have discussed this before but SHyatt usually has another ball handler out there with Josh (who isn't the best at securing the ball when he is the main ball handler). James is not a PG type player so he can't directly replace Lieberman minutes very often. Washington is playing a similar amout too. I would like to see more of him but he needs to grow into the player I can see him being. Good things happen when he gets aggressive.
I'm not the biggest Liberman fan but since the disaster of the first Boise game(I think that was the one) he has played pretty well and I can see him growing into a good player.

Wait for what? Please tell us what we are waiting for.

the wait for next year saying, only to be a "young" team not being a factor in conference by the 2nd week of conf season etc.....then people chastising Larry for not playing freshmen etc...I say play them if they are a factor, Josh did, Larry did, sure they had to develop but I'd like a few more JC players, but again, our program is at a state of it is what it is and gonna be, that's all

I realize Lieberman isn' t the best player on the team or close to it. But, at the same stage in their careers Liebs is shooting a much better % from the arc (3rd of the team behind McM and Gorski) and averages more rebounds and steals. Grabau was better at taking care of the ball and scored a couple more points per game (Grabau was a full time starter as a sophomore).

Not a fan of player bashing....this kid is only a sophomore and should improve over the next 2 1/2 years. And, as a roll player, he brings a good shooting touch from the arc.

How could he not improve? Nowhere to go but up.
