Certainly possible that something else is happening behind the scenes. But I would bet if you did an anonymous poll of all the players on the team, the large majority would say they do not like living in Laramie.

I also think the vast majority would say they hate playing college football, but that's another story.
Is that why all the Hawaii players left Hawaii? They didn’t like where they lived?

It's possible I guess... island fever is a real thing.

But this particular issue is fairly unique to Wyoming. There are several other small college towns similar to Laramie (Norman, Stillwater, Tuscaloosa, College Station, State College, etc). But those places have other positives going for them.
I see it like this. The town where you live is pretty far down the list, since, like you said, football is a full time job. The primary factor is coaching staff by far. There is too much smoke in that regard to not think things went terribly awry. Laramie probably is a small compounding factor for some, certainly not the main reason imo. Laramie will limit us and always has, but what is happening now is way beyond that

You don't like Laramie very much, I see.

Whatever, I can't get too bent out of shape with people not enjoying life in Wyo I guess. It would just turn into Colorado if everyone loved it.

Whoever said “coaches can just run why can’t the players” needs their head examined. The school that poaches a coach pays a huge buyout to the school losing a coach. Players transferring have zero restrictions and the school they’re leaving gets dick shit after using their coaching expertise, facilities and getting free education. Let’s not act like players don’t develop under college programs. Hell even some rules of restricted free agency, teams that lose a player will get compensatory picks. We get fucking nothing.

I’m not sure about all the schollie rules but I imagine signing kids from portal goes against your 25 scholarships? If that’s true, with transfer outs, seniors and quitters you’re looking at 25/yr not being enough to keep a team going. I hope I’m wrong.

This free for all is fucking terrible and in the end, it will probably hurt borderline D1 players. NCAA fucking sucks and needs to find a better way than what has been created. The old way sucked for players but this is a disaster.

Can you imagine no contracts or salary cap in the NFL and all players were free agents every year?? It’d be a nightmare. That’s what we have now

Exactly.

Except that's not how it is. Pro players sign multi year deals because they are getting paid. These kids get no money and they get 1 transfer. A kid sitting on the bench with no prospect of ever seeing the field should have options. Only a handful of players will ever see a dime. Moreover, this isn't going to end well for some of these players. Levi is taking a big chance. His running skills fit perfectly here. No one is recruiting him for his passing ability. He's not very accurate and he can still be a turnover machine.

How'd you like to be a recruit at csewe? You think you're playing for 1 coach and he's fired and the next coach lasts 16 games. And now here comes another coach. The rule is fair. We are just going to have to adjust for it.

You know that’s kinda how Wyoming ended up with Levi in the first place. He had committed to U of Houston. Decommitted when there was a coaching change and Bohl just happened to be in Texas at the time and recruited him. Maybe UH still wants him and their recent success changed his mind about the new coach.

You know your point about a guy relegated to the bench could become an advantage. There could easily be a better QB than any we have who just wants to play and is willing to drop a level for the opportunity. Who knows how this is all going to shake out

Spot on lax. Perfectly stated.

The rules changed. If you have players transfer out you get an increase in players that can be signed in a given year. I.e with 7 portal transfers, Wyoming can bring in 32 players this year so long as they don’t exceed the total 85 maximum. Even with the transfers and based on the current roster, I don’t see the team being able to sign more than 25 total players.
