Question for Husker Faithful

Sandbar - do you know if you have to buy tickets for the shuttle bus in advance? I don't want to suggest it to visitors if you can't get a seat on one just walking up.

I don't know anything about the shuttles. I live about 6 miles from the stadium and my cab cost runs $18. I figure it is worth it to take me straight home. Plus you can get multiple people in the cab.

I've taken the shuttles a few times before I moved to Lincoln and then Omaha. I can't comment on the last couple years, but when I did it you could just walk up and buy either a one way or roundtrip bus ticket. If it's round trip, they give you a slip of paper to hand to the bus attendant when it's time to go from the stadium back to your original pick up spot. On Star Tran's website, they talk about buying discounted season tickets in advance, but no mention of anything else, which leads me to believe you can still walk up and buy a pass for $10 round trip.

I really recommend this service to out of towners. You won't get parking for less than $10 within a mile of the stadium anyway, and driving around downtown Lincoln on game day can be tricky with lots of one way roads, random streets being closed, and bad congestion. Here's a link for more info: http://www.lincoln.ne.gov/city/pworks/startran/programs/bigredex/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As for hanging out at the game, basically what others have said. Most Husker fans will go out of their way to treat you well, there's some pretty good tailgating west of campus, north of the Haymarket, and around the baseball field. O street after a night game like this will be fun too.

Couple of tips:
1. Do NOT drink on UNL's campus. It's a dry campus, which is stupid and sucks, but it is what it is. Which leads to:
2. Do NOT take warnings about Lincoln/UNL police lightly. They are overfunded and under-utilized and too many bored cops = nothing good.

stymeman - you're about as close to a "Big Red Express" stop as you can get. If you want to try that option, here's the link. $10 for a round trip ticket, $5 for one-way. Your stop would be the last one listed, the North Star High School location, basically right across 27th Street from where you're staying, down Folkways Blvd and left on Hilltop Road.
