Do you know what the purpose is for yellow cloth cap some of the players wear on their helmets during practice? I've been wondering about this for years now.

Do you know what the purpose is for yellow cloth cap some of the players wear on their helmets during practice? I've been wondering about this for years now.

I believe it's just a way of designating what unit you're playing on during practice. It's basically a marker as I understand it.

for special teams....in during practice offense wears a color and defense wears another color but on special teams players from both o and d are on the same side so it designates who's who.
