I was just talking to a high school coach that was down at UW for the last week of spring football and the game. He told me that they watched a lot, a lot, of recruiting tapes for the new offense that DC is going to run and he said and I quote "Benjamin and Carta-Samuels are going to be NO DOUBT #1 and #2 when the fall ball starts!" He said that Sween isn't even on the radar when it comes to the other 2. They run circles, literally, around Sween. Just thought that I would share that.

Thanks for the info. That's not much of a suprise but it is good to hear the opinion of people who actually know what they are talking about!

That's funny, but not a surprise. I'd be very surprised to see Carta-Samuels do anything but redshirt this year and prep him for Benjamin to graduate. But that poses an interesting theory of what will happen to Barry. Think he'll transfer?

Kinda gotta feel bad for Karsten...

Kid had a ton of potential coming out of HS, then gets mind effed by the Cockmaster for 3 years, neglected and abused by the other BC (and Glenn) for another year...and has 1 year left to play college football. Under a new coaching staff, in a new system. Not exactly a recipe for success. And he was the clear #1 out of the spring.

Not too surprised about ACS and Benjamin being "stated" as #1 and #2.

Well, according to the coach I talked to, he said that Carta-Samuels is an outright stud. He said that although he thinks Benjamin will start that Samuels is easily the 2nd best qb that we have and that there is enough talent and smarts that he could come in and play (with success) right off the bat.

ACS will be a stud in the MWC when it is all said and done. If he redshirts this year, I will be extremely surprised. It is pretty clear from watching film of ACS and Benjamin that they are both much more geared for DC's offense than any of the 3 current QB's. That being said, I think Sween will give both of them a run for their money this year. Both Benajmin and ACS are more talented than Sween, but Sween has the experience. Benjamin will start this year, but don't be surprised if ACS sees significant playing time and ends up starting by the end of the season. He will certainly be starting next year.

Barry will probably be switching positions. Look for him to move to WR by mid-fall.

I don't think he is fast enough for WR, more likely defense - probably LB.

You don't need to be a blazer to be a succesful wide receiver in a spread offense. Sure hands and the willingness to catch the ball in traffic and take some hits are the most important attributes a WR can have. By all accounts, Barry sure doesn't seem afraid to take a hit. That being said, I don't see him ever being a big contributor for the Pokes at any position.

Rumor here in Laramie is that Benjamin will not be here this summer—still needs summer school to get eligible for fall. If this is true long term plans could change.

That sucks. Could give ACS a shot at the starting spot. I think it is clear one of those two will be the starter unless they both just happen to be massive flops. Sween is capable of running the offense, but he isn't the guy we need behind center if we want to get to a bowl game this season.

I can confirm this too. I heard this on friday night. Word is that his JUCO screwed him over and didn't have him taking the right classes to be able to transfer on time to a 4-yr University. This definitely opens the door for ACS. Without a doubt.

Man, IDK how I feel about a true-frosh starting against Texas. What do you guys think?

It's Sween's job to lose. Benjamin will challenge and may end up starting later in the season but not against Weber or Texas. I don't care how good ACS is coming in, his impact would be marginalized by a brutal schedule and the QB shuffle. He should be redshirted.

This team will not contend for a conference title this year regardless of who our QB is and it would be a total waste of a year if ACS is one of three QB's being experimentally rotated throughout the year.

ACS will be a solid backup next year for Benjamin, and a three year starter from there on out, and will lead us finally to the promised land.

Cowboy Up!
