QUARTERBACK

Quarterback performance in the BSU game was absolutely the most pathetic performance I have ever witnessed in 40 years of watching football. Stats were 3/16 for 30 yards and 3 intercepts!!! It definitely cost the Cowboys the Northern Division title.
I realize this was the #2 quarterback, but really, is that the best we can recruit?? If so, better call it quits.
There are unrecruited high school quarterbacks in Montana and Wyoming that could have put on a better performance than that. Wyoming played their best game against Air Force and it has been downhill ever since. It’s getting hard to watch Wyoming Bohl squads in that they have very little offense. The young men play hard, good defense, decent running game but no pass. Scoring is the name of the game in today’s college football.
With the cowboys offence, every game is a struggle-they are all close with no room for error.
Look at CSU game-probably the ugliest win I have ever seen 14-13. Rivalry game I know, but CSU barely won a game in the MW conference.
Pretty discouraging after nine years.

We recruit QBs just fine. They're all intelligent, they're all from the same physical mold, and most of them are more or less dual-threat QBs fit for a pro-style system. But they're also from a wide variety of backgrounds, personalities, and temperaments.

The problem is, and always has been, QB development, playcalling, and the overall offensive scheme, which sets these guys up for failure.

Even Josh Allen's stats sucked ass, particularly after he was no longer surrounded by NFL talent. That should tell you something. A generational quarterback who is now one of the best QBs in the NFL struggled for the majority of his career here.

Shitting on the QBs is a tired, sorry copout and excuse.

yeah. imagine signing up just so you can make that post. wild.

So, I’m suppose to believe that 3 completions in 17 attempts for 30 yds with 3 intercepts is strictly a result of qb development, play calling and scheme. I don’t think so-I guess I am a ‘retard’.

Of all the hot takes in this post, this is probably the worst. Much love to Wyo high school FB, but there hasn't been a decent QB in years...even Tevis Bartlett (arguably the best FB athlete the state has produced in the last 5-10 years) wouldn't have been a QB at the college level.

I think he was recruited at Quarterback by a few schools but signed with Washington where he played linebacker.

Snide remarks from others aside, did you even bother to read the actual response I gave you?

Since 2016, we have had EIGHT different quarterbacks take snaps; SIX of them have seen substantial playing time. All but one have presided over some of the worst offenses in CFB at times.

That "one"...the best quarterback we have had in that span...was JA17, and even he struggled mightily at times, with absolutely terrible stat lines...and he didn't show much improvement until he hired an outside QB coach prior to his Senior Bowl and entered camp with the Bills. Think about that for a minute. One of the best quarterbacks in the NFL showed the most improvement after he got away from this offense and our horrid QB coaches.

But sure, keep blaming the QBs. Wouldn't particularly expect any nuanced or in-depth thought from someone who thinks there's a "northern division" in the MWC.
