QBs...Anderson and Batiste

I think Svoboda's leash is barely hanging. We have seen some of Anderson but not enough to determine if he can play. I hope he lets these 2 Freshmen play the year out. At least let Batiste get some playing time the last 4 games so he does not burn his redshirt.

I sincerely doubt we'll see Batiste this season. We'll get Anderson and Clemons.

Let these Freshmen play. Svoboda is no bueno.

I’m a broken record and can’t resist:

Svoboda was the first QB signed after Bohl tweeted the infamous national QB search alluding to Wyoming is the best place to be another Josh Allen. Good thing Bohl got the late transfer from Peasley or his overall 10 years would have been below .500.

Svoboda would have never played. They knew he was a project. The project has the physical tools but not the QB intellect nor accuracy.

Clemons quit the team. So did Boddie.
The “fear hire” to eliminate a mass transfer of players may well backfire this year. There are a number of players who would likely get offers out of the portal if they elect to test the system. I wouldn’t blame any player who anticipates this going the way of a JoeGlenn/AlanEdwards style of success.

I see little chance of Joe Glenn level success. I see a lot of chance of Vic Koenning and last years of DC levels of success. But I guess the competition will be so watered down in a few years we should win a couple games.

How sad is it that I didn’t even notice Boddie wasn’t on the team anymore? Geez. While I don’t think Svboda is a great quarterback, he’s not the only problem. Play calling was atrocious. All pass plays were deep, and even if he hit the receivers, they couldn’t catch it. Subbing late in the play clock, penalties, and overall not great decision making. Today was the last day we see a big crowd at The War this year. Even though today was a solid turnout, it was quiet. Like everyone was just waiting for the offense to go 3 & out or throw a pick. It’s sad knowing that they’ve lost 2 games this year when we had the better players than our opponents. I guess we’re stuck until the Jays resign to take coordinator jobs elsewhere or get fired in another year. It’s too bad because once again our league isn’t a bunch of world beaters. Could’ve made a run if we had some brains on the sidelines. And any sense of a passing game.

Maybe this guy is still available:

I'm going to disagree with you a little bit. The fact is, there were open receivers down the field. One example: Svoboda hit the tight end for a 20 yard gain toward the end of the first half. But the pass was so inaccurate, the receiver (Glyllenborg) had to dive to catch the ball. If it's accurate, there's no one around him and he runs another 15-20 yards. Svoboda holds the ball too long. He has no pocket presence. He takes sacks when he should be getting rid of it. Plays like that flea flicker work because no one thinks we can throw it deep. They are mostly correct. Take out the flea flicker and we had under 100 yards passing. That's incredibly inept for an offense that wants to be dual threat.

Oh, I don’t disagree with anything you’re saying. All I’m saying is in addition to those things, play calling isn’t setting him up for success with his skill set. It might be time to try another quarterback, but I really don’t see any reason to believe that the offense will suck less. We’ve gone from a boring offense that could at least beat teams we should, to an offense that literally has fans holding their breath in the stands, waiting for the untimely interception, or incomplete deep ball, only to lose to teams that are worse than us (Idaho & SDSU).
Meanwhile, aren’t we all happy that we didn’t have a bunch of transfers in the portal while a coaching search was underway? Makes me sick that we could have ended up with Bronco Mendenhal or someone that actually had head coaching experience, because there was fear of mass exodus. Seems like that’s happening anyway and now we have to hope for maybe one more win in the process. Rather than enduring short term pain for long term gain, we have to suffer watching our program fall apart slowly every weekend. Death by paper cuts.

The play calling was good. The Aztecs were playing man without help all. Night long and the deep ball was there all night. The qb either threw short or tried to throw it on a rope with wide open guys instead of putting air under it. In other times his lack of pocket awareness didn’t allow him to reset and throw.

Even mediocre qb play would have made that game a comfortable win.
