QB Recruit

Here is a story on a young man from Cheyenne. I know this kid. Great arm. Christenson recruited him and offered a scholly. We will see where he ends up. I do know, from talking with family, that he is not overly impressed with the current coaching staff. However, 3 generations of his family have went to U of W. Some have played sports, so he is not sure what his decision is going to be.

Not true. Bartlett is quoted in LaCock's Rivals story as saying that he really likes the current coaching staff. He thinks they're "great". Tevis also mentioned that Wyoming is at the top of his list -- which includes offers from CU and CS-ewe to this point.

One-smooth-Poke has not been honest with anyone on this board. He has an axe to grind but comes off like he is some great Poke fan that just wishes to share useful info. The truth is something that is VERY different, as he has been a jerk, makes statements that he never backs up and then leaves for a while.

The truth here is that Tevis does really like the coaching staff and has had good meetings with them....my grandson is on the football team at East.

The bottom line, is that One-smooth-Poke is a jerk and nobody should take anything that he says as being truthful at face value.

+1

He has some tie to DC, he went around to opposing message boards and embarrassed other UW fans by talking an inordinate amount of shit about how great the Pokes were going to be and then when DC was fired he turned his trolling to UW.

Thanks for posting this.

I would highly doubt the family would be happy with you posting this even if this were to be true. I certainly would be unhappy if third parties were potentially burning bridges prior to my kid signing with any school.

Perhaps you are embelishing your relationhip to the family and/or your conversations with such family (perhaps the third cousin two marriage removed that you talked to gave you incorrect information). Either way, it has been overly apparent that you have an axe to grind with Wyoming/Bohl since the day DC was fired.

I could care less what carpet baggers think, what I do know is ANY legitimate scholar/athlete in this state Coach Bohl will go all out to get these guys Wyoming Jerseys. Kids like this come once every decade, and we need them in the brown and gold. Keep us posted Poke Nation.

Hmm....that is not what I've read....lots of generic stuff, but no outright "Wyoming is top" comments. The Colorado folks are claiming the same thing.

He was directly quoted in an interview saying Wyo was on top at this point with CU second and CSU third.

However Stanford has now been in contact

But has Stanford offered?

???? You have a very different interpretation that I do.

This is his exact quote:

"Wyoming - I like how close it is to home," he said. "I like that it is my home state. I like the coaching staff. They are great. Right now they are probably my top choice"

He later notes CU is 2nd and CSU 3rd currently.

https://wyoming.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1642277

That's all subject to change, especially if schools like Stanford get involved.

Yeah, can't read the article.

I love my Pokes and am proud of my U.W. degree, but I always have to hope that schools like Stanford get involved with kids that have Bartlett's academic chops. We just had a player leave early who looks like he will be wishing he had that diploma on the wall five years from now.

By comparison, the Denver Broncos are now run by a Stanford-educated economist and quarterbacked by a guy that was Phi Beta Kappa and graduated in 3 years while playing football. My guess is that he has a future as an executive if he wants it as well. Both went to really good academic schools.

An education at the University of Tennessee, like most public flagship or land-grant institutions, is largely what you make of it. It sounds like Peyton excelled academically (which is not a surprise considering everything else we know about him), but there are plenty of his teammates and other former UT football players that did not take advantage of the opportunity and have very little value to show for their time (graduation rates below 60%, borderline APR, etc.).

Stanford is truly unique and difficult to compare as the potential networking opportunities are difficult to quantify, but potentially extremely valuable (intellectually and economically).

The undertone of your post, and previous posts, seems to be that there is limited value in a degree from the University of Wyoming. I haven't found that to be true on any level. Anecdotally I earned a MBA from a Top 20 business school and the cohort that I worked with was full of talented, intelligent individuals but no more so than my classmates in my undergraduate ChE program at UW. In fact, I found the coursework to be much less rigorous in the MBA program (although that is due primarily to the subject, not the institution or program).

The school one attends doesn't make one successful (outside of networking opportunities); rather, high achievers generally self select into prestigious schools. I would contend that the most successful folks in the US would be successful regardless of the school attended.

That's why UNLV's acting president has achieved a great deal of success, from being a gaming executive to a banking executive, to spearheading the city's quest for an on-campus football stadium, to being a key driver of Las Vegas's unbelievable Smith Center for the Performing Arts, all with "only" a bachelor's degree from little ol' Wyoming. Think about it - he is the only president of major university in the country that I know of with nothing more than a bachelors, and he holds this degree from UW.

Ivy league and Stanford degrees look great on a wall, and undoubtedly open many doors. What makes one truly successful, though, goes far beyond this and those who have the necessary intangibles will make their mark regardless of where they go to school.

I'm not sure if that's how his name is spelled, but the way you spelled it makes me laugh.
