Pumphrey was maybe the 4th best back

Penny was much, much more impressive. He's big and very fast. However if we do get to the championship game I hope we figure out how to cover Pump out of the backfield.

3. Allen
4. Pump :winky:
That's basically what Allen said after the game (well he didn't order them, but he said "SDSU may have 3 of the 4, but we have the best")

Hill proved he's the best in the MWC today against the "best" defense in the league.

Basically, Hill made Pumphery eat his words.

While Pumphery has been feasting on a bunch of bad teams, Hill's been grinding down winning teams.

Pumphrey is really fast. He caught a couple passes on that last drive and outran everyone to the corner. We mostly contained him but I wouldn't want to see him loose in the secondary.

Pumphrey was pretty damn gracious in his defeat too and gave credit to Wyoming. Nice to see that rather than him pouting.

Fresno, San Jose, Hawaii and UNLV is good for about 800 yards per year for pumphrey.

You missed his pouting on twitter. He was trash talking right after the game to Wyoming and Boise fans

Washington and Penny had more yards on kick returns than pumphrey did rushing.

Pumphrey all upset on twitter. Wow. Fighting with UW fans. I think it's funny. He is taking the bait and engaging with silliness.

I think fans should remember these players are just kids, but pumphrey has been popping off for some time.

Pump is a b. Plain and simple. If I didn't know who he was before the game he would have gone unnoticed by me. Donald pumphrey looked pedestrian and utterly unremarkable as a running back. Probably the most overrated football player I've had the displeasure of seeing in person.

I wouldn't say he's overrated. But I do think penny is the better back. Pumphrey just is fast and elusive. He takes advantage of open field. I think he'd make a great slot receiver in the nfl.

I must have - I didn't see any of that except for a few responses to people taunting him (including Tutein), after he tweeted this one

I was about to write this as well. There is no way he makes the NFL as a RB. He's too small. Frankly he isn't an elite college RB. He is a RB with elite speed. He has no ability to take a hit and run through it. Someone like Keuchly or Bosa would destroy him.
He will be a helluva kick returner and slot at the next level.

Yep. Other than 1 or 2 runs yesterday, we contained Pumphery better than a number of other backs this season. One of the few RBs that couldn't just slip out of a defender's grasp once they had him.

SDSU's Penny was better. Size, speed, and breaking away from defenders. All Pumphery had was speed.

Just how bad were those rush defenses SDSU faced until they came to Laramie?
