Prosinski Predicitons

Anyone gonna make any predictions on what his stat sheet will look like at the end of the year? From the spring 40 times, he was clocked at a 4.38 (making him the fastest player on the team). Just as a tid-bit.

I predict second team all-MWC, like others on the team, if we have a nice record that could end up being first team all-MWC.

Or at the very least, keep his tackles high because of his ball-hawking, and not because the back is already 10 yards downfield.

Dead on. Prosinkski will have a ridiculous stat line at season's end, but it won't bring in first team honors unless we finish 7-5 or better. I have noticed a trend in conference honors where underclassmen seem to only make first team all-conference if they are on a high level team. However, seniors seem to be able to make the first team regardless of their team's performance. Maybe that's the way it should be...maybe it shouldn't. Just something I have noticed.

On a slightly different note, I still think our secondary is a bit suspect. Yes, we have 3 returning starters and 1 of them is arguably the best player on the defense, but I sure remember our secondary getting smoked quite a few times last year. We were 2nd in the conference in pass defense, only giving up roughly 185 yards passing per game, but that stat is a bit skewed. We had enough blowouts that the other team quit throwing the ball certainly by the 4th quarter and a couple times at halftime. As much as I hate to say it, BYU, Utah, and Bowling Green could have thrown the ball all day long if they had wanted to. Part of that had to do with the essentially non-existant pressure we got on the QB. The secondary will be better with another year of expereience under their belts, but a more pressure on the opposing QB could vastly improve their play.

What was it about Utah's 119 yards passing that leads you to believe they could have thrown the ball all day on our secondary? Or BYU's 200......including a bomb to score their first offensive TD just before half. Bowling Green had a nice day passing against us, but still under 300 yards. Turnover were the death of Wyoming football last year. The defense was on the field way more than they should have been and that might have lead to some fatigue, etc. Plus, we started a true freshman last year.

If we cut our turnovers in half, we go bowling this year. That is how bad it had been.

Utah: They threw the ball 20 times...that's it. The wind was blowing 40 mph that game which kept them from being able to pass the ball much. Want to know how many times they passed the ball in the 4th quarter after they were up 34-0? Not a single time. No way they quit throwing the ball if that game is close in the 4th quarter.

BYU: They pulled Max Hall midway through the 3rd quarter. Want to know how many yards passing the other 2 QB's that came in after him had? 12 yards. Something tells me that if the starters are left in that game and the game is closer, then more than 12 yards passing are compiled in the last 1.5 quarters. In fact, if Max Hall were to stay in the game and continue to play in a similar fashion to how he had the rest of the game, then he would have thrown for 304 yards on the day. Not such an impressive showing when you look at it that way.

Bowling Green: They threw the ball ONE time in the 4th quarter. Why? Because they were up 38-10 heading into the 4th quarter. Bowling Green only averaged 225 ypg through the air last year playing in the MAC. They beat that by 80 yards in basically 3 quarters against us.

This is exactly my point. Just looking at the stats can lead one to conclude that our secondary is a strong point. I don't think it is horrible by any means, but I don't think they were second best in the MWC like the stats suggest. Many teams neglected the pass late in the game because they had the game in hand and just wanted to run clock. We didn't look like that strong of secondary when Dion Morton was repeatadly running circles around us in The War to close the season out.

If that time is accurate, Prosinski has some serious NFL potential. Not to mention he is always all over the field anyways.

But I think our secondary and Prosinski specifically has to fix a glaring flaw. The secondary gave up way too many big plays. I think it was the Bowling Green game where Prosinski got burned like 3 times for TDs on that same seam route play. Oh and if Tennessee had anyone who could throw the ball, the secondary would have been in serious trouble as their WRs were consistently beating our secondary.

Overall, since the secondary is basically all back, it would have to be considered one of the strong points.

Oredigger. I remember those BG pass plays. They were devestating. Not sure what went wrong on those, but obviously a breakdown. But I never saw replays to figure out what went wrong.

That was against TCU and was by the worst outing of the year for Chris. Hopefully whoever was responsible learned something so it won't happen again.
