Seems to get it.
And clears up any confusion, if there was any, about the hiring of the consultants. Happened back in September. Reporter called after CSU game and asked something about them(or a question that lead to discussing the consultants), president talked about the consultants cuz they aren't hiding anything, story broke. Said if he had to do it over again would have had a press release back in september. Burman helped pick the consultants out. Just wants to bring in some experts to get another point of view, no agendas just wants the University of Wyoming to be the best it can be and that includes athletics specifically a successful football and basketball program.

Oh and SDpoke, he said UW will remain D1 as long as he is president so no need worrying about droping down.

Guess Burmans job is safe since he helped pick out the consultants. Guess that means someone on the football staff is probably getting fired. All or one? That's the 1.2 million dollar question.

The thing is that they could hire someone for less based on the fact that Wyoming pays their head coach the 3rd highest salary in the MWC.
The board of trustees doesn't even like paying DC that much right now and they thought they would only have to pay it for a couple of years and then he would be off to a BCS school.

They are obviously going to have to pony up more money though if they want to have a good football team. So guess we will find out who gets their way. The Wyoming old timers that like to keep things the way they have always been or the new progressive thinkers. If it was up to the board they would pay as little as possible.

but we pay one of the lowest salaries for assistants. 3rd in HC pay but 9th in assistant salaries. Probably the good ole boys agreeing to splurge a little and come into this century (but not too much)

lol really? He had to acknowledge a move down question? Come on....
makes me sick that anybody could even ask that with a straight face

In fairness. They never asked him in the interview about it. He just kinda said it off hand similar to"if we are gonna be the best D1 school, which we will remain as long as im president, then we need......"
Though it does make you wonder about it getting brought up to him from other people. Maybe he reads this board. Haha.

I hate to be a wet blanket here, but unfortunately, to be reasonable, we have to admit that we are competing beyond the size of our enrollment and fan base population at the level we are competing. Bigger schools in larger population centers do play at the FCS level. That means that we will rarely play the part of Goliath and we should not be too surprised when our record over the long term looks like what one would expect from David in a 7-fight series.

I am glad we are sticking with FBS and the MWC, but we are a long way from stepping into the University of Utah's shoes athletically or academically.
