Nah Okie...I love the Oil City. I have even spent my $1000 at the Wonder Bar on Center...(FYI I think you don't get to become somewhat of a regular anywhere until you dump a K). I do though, think the shootout needs to take a break...it is very poorly attended, has lost it's luster, and costs UW a ton to keep putting on.

I left Casper before I could be legal to get drunk so I never been to the Wonder Bar. Is the Beacon still around?

As for the Shootout, after it ended the 4 team tournament format the shootout lost a lot of fans.

Was at the 1990 event, a week later my parents and I had to run down to OKC to look for a house. :roll:

We need to get better teams to come to the Shutout. End the MSU series every other year and start bringing in some better teams. This would definately boost attendance. THink of the Witchita State game, it was packed.

I would prefer if they keep the game there, that they stick a crappy opponent with it (though that would be every opponent this year). I hated having to haul my ass up there every year to watch Texas Tech or WSU. Put the big draws where the bigger crowd will be. I almost hated it as much as I hate looking at that damn pink floor for 4 hours.

Just a thought...but if UW decided to take a break for a couple years, then come back with it, tourney style like it was in the 80's (and maybe early 90's?), I am sure it would be well recieved and potentially pay for itself. I am far from getting my masters in marketing & marketing strategy, but somebody needs to get a clue in that area at UW athletics.

Why not move it to Gillette and make it a 4 team tournament again? Gillette has the facilities and would probably give much more support than it is getting right now in Casper. If we insist on playing somewhere other than Laramie, I would make it Gillette.

That is not a bad idea. It gives the folks up there a chance to see a game or two without having to battle the roads down to Laramie. Plus Casper folks can go to Laramie a lot easier than Gillette. We should think about other possible venus.. the Barn shootout in Basin.. haha.. um.. where else??
