I would be absolutely shocked if Wyoming makes the NIT tournament regardless of whether Boise State makes the NCAA tournament or not.

Yes, if you look at RPI alone, Wyoming should be in the discussion for a spot in the NIT...but one look at the season and how the make-up of the teams has been altered since that hot start and it becomes clear that Wyoming has no business in the NIT.

You have to realize that the committee will be evaluating the team as it is currently constructed. Without Luke Martinez, this team is 5-12. Of course, some of this has to do with playing a very tough conference schedule, but the committee will not put as much emphasis on "good wins" against Colorado, Denver, Illinois State, etc because those wins came when Martinez was part of the team.

I would put Wyoming's chances of making the NIT at about 5%, and I actually hope they don't make the NIT. They don't deserve it.

Not only that, but their chances for an early exit (very early) at the NIT would be high. CBI maybe not so much.

I have to agree. This was a fun team to watch before martinez blew it. Since then, it has been a root canal. They need to lick their wounds and start looking forward to next year.

I find all this kind of funny. Through the Joby Wright years, everyone complained about being mediocre with great talent. No postseasons for years! Then we get Shyatt in 97 and he takes us to the NIT, then McClain NIT, then McClains second year we go 19-12 and get nothing, EVERYONE WAS up in arms because we were robbed of some sort of postseason play.
Here we are with only two good seasons in the past 6 years and people want to take this team and just say, "Wrap it up. Forget about it."? Really?

With what is being said, I guess we now know the butts that will not make it to the seats when we do play a post season home game.

I'm not sure if the Pokes get in or not.....but if they did, you would hope the mood would be jubilation. The NIT brings an excellent opportunity for teams just sneaking in.....look at Wyoming for example. 19-12.....was terrible in conference play.....if they snuck in, the team would be thrilled beyond belief. And they would get to play against disappointed basketball teams who just missed out on the big dance.....that is a prime recipe for multiple upsets. The last seeds you want to be in the NIT are #1 and #2.....those seeds lose to 7/8 seeds annually in the NIT. Bottom line: If Wyoming got lucky and with an NIT invite, you jump for joy.....and do not apologize for anything.

Yep totally agree. And the fact that people think we should just "wrap it up" is pathetic.
The NIT can not be as hard as MWC play.

I think the team has been improving lately. They don't have the results but sometimes you gotta look at more than just the box score to see how a team is playing.
We were in it with NM who ended up winning the MWC regular season title AND MWC tourney, and that was with Leonard and Larry having 4 fouls and Leonard eventually fouling out with 10 minutes left.
Adams played well. Nance is playing well.

People just wanna scrap it and get ready for next year? How about we start preparing for next season by making a run in the CBI or NIT, which ever one we get.
If we get the NIT, and make a big run, this team will have tons of confidence next season. Hell even if they make a run in the CBI.

Wyoming will be in the CBI if they want to pay for it. If you look at most of those links that have been posted in here they are of dates from a few days ago. All of them have updated since and most of them if not all of them have dropped Wyoming out of the NIT field. As one of them said "The next to last finish in conference became to glaring to ignore.". Or something like that.

So guess we will see if we play in the CBI and against who.
