POSTERIZED: Adams Dunks on Birch

Adams keeps this up going into next year, he'll be a threat all over the court! A 6'1 guard that can out jump most bigmen and now is a solid 3 point shooter? And Nance will be back with his defense and offense down low. Grabau, he's just dissappeared. He still gets assists, and is good for free throws, but he hasn't done much else. Sobey, I wish he had one more year, he really picked it up after Nance went down. A decent free throw shooter, he just destroyed defenses. Cooke, without Nance to help him out, has struggled. He still pulls down rebounds, but points wise, yeah. And he REALLY needs to work on free throws shooting. At least up to the 60% area.

Josh was even trending on Twitter:

Josh took his game to another level in the latter part of the season. You could just see the confidence oozing out of him. Fans should be expecting big things from him on a more consistent basis in the next two years. HE should be expecting big things from himself. Great athlete.

Praying Nance comes back healthy, strong and CONFIDENT in that knee. Unfortunately, his absence really exposed the limitations of certain other players on the team. Derek has come a LONG way, but still has a ways to go.

Heading into next year, I'm not sure what to think of the Hankerson and Washington situations. Can McManamen and Herndon contribute? Very much looking forward to seeing what Lieberman, Jones and Barnes can offer during the OOC portion of the schedule.

Papa Shy deserves a little good luck after having the rug pulled out from under him these last two seasons.

My Observations/Predictions: The team will rest on Nance and Adams next year. Cooke will be in the mix but I predict that he will improve only slightly, if at all by next year - I doubt that he will get worse. Washington just does not appear to have it physically or mentally to be at D-1 level - he may even give up. Bentz will be a solid backup, if not a starter depending on how the newcomers show up. Grabau? Who knows what happened there.

But if just one of the newcomers really performs, I think that this team will be as good as or slightly better than this year, allowing a 20+ season.

This could be bumped up if some players put in a lot of work in the off season.

ever since his suspension and not being able to play against the Lobos down there, he has taken it to a level that none of us has ever seen at UW...man oh man if he continues we're really going to be in for a treat watching him for the next 2 years...keep it up Josh

And just earlier this season people were saying Nance was the only legit D1 player out there...
I know that was the pessimists but it still baffles me how people haven't been higher on Adams all year.

"He has no jump-shot". Do you actually watch him shoot or just say what everyone else says?

He has been a huge player for the Pokes since he made that tip-in the high school state title game.

He is a legit NBA guy, just like Nance.
If Nance comes back healthy, this team will wreck people next season.
2015 MWC POY: Larry Nance Junior
2016 MWC POY: Josh Adams

Saw it live. His athleticism is off the charts. His dunk he missed darting down the lane splitting the defense was crazy. Fastest player on the floor by far

Josh lost control of the ball as he was getting ready to tomahawk it. That would have been another roof-raiser.

By the way, love your signature pic. Sure hope the Borg are loving life in the WCC. :D

I was corrected by a UNLV fan on twitter that Birch was not posterized because he was only "half defending the play" and "could barely run or jump" during the game.

Whatever makes ya feel better, man..

People who said Adams had no jump shot simply watched him play last year. It was obvious. His shooting % from last year supports it.

He has greatly improved his jump shot this year, I think that's obvious as well.

Anybody know what his vertical measures? Kid was awesome to watch in high school and just keeps getting better. Would like to see him in a dunk contest someday.

Given how raw Cooke is, I think he continues to improve during the offseason. His growth between his sophomore and junior years was easily seen. He will only improve and become a better finisher around the glass next year. Washington was a true freshman, he will improve. The game was quick for him this year....it will slow down for him going forward. Grabau is a good floor general and will be the starting PG next year...unless someone come in and breaks up a starting lineup of Nance, Cooke, Adams, Grabau, and Hankerson(?). It won't be Bentz. I like the kid, but he will see less pt next year with more options at PG and SG.

Larry will find a way to mix next years team into a winner...just like the previous two years. We can only hope the bad luck doesn't continue.

Go Pokes!!

I don't see Hankerson around next year. Anybody else agree?
Slim chance. We really need the depth since Sobey is graduating and Washington hasn't gotten used to the college level yet, but from the sounds of it, he may not be coming back.

Someone posted an article a while back about it, something about due to his legal troubles, he may not be coming back.

I thought the legal trouble were associated to Hankerson...I dont remember anything about Washington but I certainly may have missed something...
