Position changes

Matt Birkeness and Riley Lange are now going to play h-back due to injuries to Studnicka and Bruce. I think this will mean Yarborough will not be taking a redshirt.

I don't think the H-Back is going to be a position used too heavily, so I don't see a reason why Riley couldn't keep on the DL.

We used a h-back about 60 to 70% of the time last year and I don't think that will change at all. With Studnika and Bruce going down and Sayardi(sp?) no longer with the team someone needs to fill in. You need someone with size, blocking skills and good hands. We probably would have won more games last year if our qb would have threw to our wide open h-back more often. Go back and watch the Af game again and you'll understand what I'm talking about. This still leaves us with about 10-12 guy's to rotate on the d-line. Gotta do what ya gotta do.

We didn't run the spread offense 60 to 70 percent last year. We stopped running the spread against Air Force and didn't pick it up again till the 2nd half of the BYU game. I expect that to change and will bet the fullback/h-back is used only in goaline/short yardage situations this year.

TJ Smith played some in the last two scrimmages, but he was hurt this summer and spring. I think they are moving Birkeness back to D-line. I am suprised that Shane Sullivan hasn't taken over the h-back spot.
