Now, now Wyoming fishing -- any other tales you want to tell us? Burman was Pope? That is really a laffer! Agree that some of Burman's congregation won't find any wrong in his leadership but as Pope you are suggesting he can lead them to the promised land (well so to speak at least in relation to Wyoming athletics). I don't see it happening but who knows they say prayer helps a lot, so maybe!
As for a prediction of 27 and 3; I too wondered at the time if that individual had tipped a couple too many. After seeing our schedule for this year I had thought we might do slightly better than last year (maybe a game or two better) but no way anything like winning 27 games. Unfortunately both I and the 27 and 3 predictor were wrong. Although seems there are signs of good defense and toughness, I have to say that I thought even before Luke's escapade, that our offense last year with Poco shooting threes was better than this year's offense, just MHO.
I do like how whenever anyone suggests TB needs to upgrade the schedule and get rid of playing so many powder puffs in the OOC games immediately the response is that the coach does the scheduling, not the AD. Well my response to those individuals would be to question is it not one of the duties of the AD to try to upgrade athletics at Wyoming? Does he not know, or not seen in the past few years, that playing an OOC powder puff schedule really doesn't help our program that much? Oh, don't get me wrong, I was happy to see us win those OOC games but I kept wondering how those wins would look when we started playing conference games where the level of competition would be a few steps higher up the ladder.
Had the opportunity to visit with a couple in Cheyenne who were in the crowd I was with at conference tournaments several years back and naturally our discussions included the UW basketball program Neither he nor I could come up with a good way of explaining it but his wife may have hit it on the head when she said that the past several years have been like a period of fan (not so much) and administrative (quite a bit) apathy. Oh well, as the saying at UW goes, wait until next year!
