Pokes playing for D2 World Series

Not sure if it is a good thing, or even a relevant thing...but how come our DII club baseball program is outperforming the rest of our entire athletic department? Some of them, in a VERY large way.

Peach - it's because they're playing D2. CSU's club team plays on a higher level. This is a common thing with our club teams - they can move down and dominate or move up and get killed (hockey, XC Skiing, etc.).

Just read the paper this morning, and saw that the pitcher, Carlos Casas, was a person that I graduated high school with. Did not know he was the pitcher. I wish him and the rest of the Pokes luck in the National Championship!

This may not compare to the larger, more recognized sports, but success at the UW club or any level for that matter, is a good thing. Especially if it's the national championship. Dead time of year anyway and these are some very good baseball players.

Seems to be many baseball haters here but this is great news! Granted it's a club team, but it's not their fault. It would be great if we could still compete in the ncaa but it's just not possible with title IX.

This is even more of an accomplishment because we are playing and beating colleges that have 2-3 baseball teams. A team like Penn st. not only has an NCAA team, but 2 club teams. So they are able to move around players and have a bigger pool to choose from. With the success of this team I believe that the NCBA may move UW up to Div1 and put them in the Mid-America region to play against CSU, CU, and UNC in 2012
