Well, 4 and a half games in and I think we have a pretty good idea about what this Cowboy team does well and what it struggles with.
Strengths:
Defense - Pleasant surprise after the past few seasons. They seem to really thrive in the match-up zone, even against more athletic teams.
Weakneses:
Ball Handling - Still way too many turnovers
Passing - Still way too many forced/poor passes that lead to turnovers
Fast Breaks - By far the worst team I've watched all season at finishing a fast break, even when we have the numbers
Shooting - Still can't knock down an open shot if there is the slightest bit of pressure
Finishing - We have to be top 10 in blown dunks
The players seem to be working hard and I don't think HS has given up. Frankly, the schemes seem to be much better this year, even offensively. The players are put in positions to score points, they just aren't getting it done. Thats a flaw in the recruiting, which ultimately lands on the shoulders of HS. I don't think he is as bad at the X's and O's of basketball as some of you think. Given some elite talent, I think HS could really do some good things. I just think he lacks the ability to evaluate talent well, and thus, has ended up with a team full of players that can't get done what he is asking them to do.
