Looks like he had an offer From CU.

Pretty rare we snag one from CU

I believe the only other school who had offered a scholarship to Jones was Air Force. If my memory serves me correctly, Jones visited UW way back in early December. Believe me, if CU would have offered him, he would of commited in a heart beat...which is why he held off on his commitment to us for so long after his visit.

I hate to say it, but after talking to some coaches down in Colorado and watching some film on this guy, this just seems like another "ho-hum" commitment from yet another mediocre offensive lineman. I'm starting to get very concerned that DC's ironic inability to recruit high quality offensive lineman may lead to his downfall at UW. I have yet to watch film of a DC recruited offensive lineman and come away impressed. I know that DC is really high on most of the O-lineman who redshirted from last years class...but I'm going to have to see it before I believe it. For everyones sake, I sure hope DC is right.

Fact is we needed lineman and DC probably thinks he has potential how big is he? Coach might think he is a project lots of classes have dude like that

:tickedoff: Wow, kinda a lame post here. You contradict yourself by saying if the kid would have had an offer from CU he would have gone there in a heartbeat but beat the coaching staff up for getting a guy from a good program that has good size and wants to be a POKE. Man, be positive with this guy as he COULD end up a good player when it's all said and done. We are not in a position to get high quality lineman... YET! You get the best players you can get PERIOD! Yeah it would be great to have a bunch of 5 star (bogus) OL/DL but the fact is those guys go to the PAC, SEC, B12, and B10. I think Coach is getting a lot of guys that are going to surprise a lot of people and in the process, make many analysts look really silly.

I'm a bit confused about how I contradicted myself. I was simply addressing the previous posters claim of us "snagging one from CU". Fact is, CU hadn't offered him, so we didn't really "snag one from CU".

I post about most of the recruits that commit to UW. Some of them impress me, some of them don't. There are several guys I am really excited about in this recruiting class...namely Adam Pittser, Eddie Yarborough, and Korey Jones. I beleive all of 3 of those guys will make an immediate impact for the Pokes next year. I also feel we have a handful of other guys in this class who should see playing time as true freshman and will be significant contributors to the program throughout their time in Laramie. Others in the recruiting class, including Jake Jones, seem like run-of-the-mill mid major prospects and I don't feel bad about saying so. DC has been able to sign some really impressive football players at every position excpet one...offensive line. As important as the O-line is to an offense, that fact concerns me.

Look, for the last 10 years all I've heard from coaches is how many "sleepers" they had found and how much "potential" all of the recruits had...and for the last 10 years I've watached mediocre football players play mediocre football at UW. I'd love nothing more than for that to change.

Sounds fair, and maybe I shouldn't even be saying anything since I kinda new in posting but maybe will just agree to disagree on some things. I can already tell we'll disagree on the QB. I prefer Brett Smith to Pittser on all fronts. I am actually going through some information on both QB's because I think it will make for an interesting discussion, but I am liking Brett Smith more every day! Yarborough is a great get, Raif is a very good OL, and the Rufran kid from Colorado is pretty quick! We both want the best for Wyo though and hope to go bowlin' next season!
