LARAMIE, Wyoming (9/9/25) – The National Football League’s season got off to an emphatic start this week, and a former University of Wyoming Cowboy was at the epicenter of it. Josh Allen thrilled fans, the ones that stuck around at least, with a come-from-behind, 41-40, victory over Baltimore on Sunday night.
Allen rallied the Bills back from a 40-25 deficit with a tremendous and record-breaking fourth quarter. He became the first quarterback in league history to throw for north of 250 yards and account for two scores in a single quarter.
In total, Allen was 33-for-46 for 394 yards with two touchdowns. He also rushed for a pair of scores and 30 yards in his first game as the reining Most Valuable Player. The Bills travel to the New York Jets in Week 2.
Allen wasn’t the only former Wyoming student-athlete to perform well during the opening week. Below is a list of all the former Pokes and their stat lines in Week 1.
Logan Wilson, Cincinnati Bengals
Wilson enjoyed a solid game, as the Bengals held on for a 17-16 victory at Cleveland. He made seven tackles and defended a pair of passes in his first game back since Nov. 17 of last year.
Cincinnati hosts Jacksonville in Week 2.
Andrew Wingard, Jacksonville Jaguars
Wingard was stout in the Jaguars’ 26-10 win over Carolina. He was second on the team with eight tackles.
Jacksonville travels to Cincinnati in Week 2.
Carl Granderson, New Orleans Saints
Granderson had a very productive day in the Saints’ 20-13 loss to Arizona. He racked up six tackles, 1.5 sacks, one tackle for loss, two passes defended and one quarterback hit.
New Orleans hosts San Francisco in Week 2.
Marcus Epps, Philadelphia Eagles
Epps didn’t record a stat in the Eagles’ 24-20 victory over Dallas. Philadelphia travels to Kansas City in Week 2.
Frank Crum, Denver Broncos
Crum was inactive in the Broncos’ 20-12 win over Tennessee. Denver travels to Indianapolis in Week 2.
Chad Muma, Indianapolis Colts
Muma was inactive in the Colts’ 33-8 win over Miami. Indianapolis hosts Denver in Week 2.
Treyton Welch, New Orleans Saints
Welch is currently on the Saints’ practice squad.
