Plenty of familiarity between UND, Wyoming

During Craig Bohl’s tenure at North Dakota State, the Bison played rival North Dakota just once -- a 2003 UND overtime victory at the Alerus Center punctuated by a fourth-down defensive stop.

UND and NDSU haven’t played since that day, leaving current North Dakota football players without much personal experience with Bohl.

However, as a three-time FCS national champion head coach not too far away from Memorial Stadium, UND players already have respect for Bohl, who will begin his second season at Wyoming on Saturday against UND at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie.

“We know, first and foremost, he was down the street for a bit and we know his track record,” UND senior linebacker Dayo Idowu said. “We know he has a good football team. You can never take plays off and you have to be assignment sharp, because his guys are always disciplined and trust the scheme. We really understand that to beat a team like that you have to give your best effort.”

Bohl came to Wyoming after building the Bison into a national power during his 11 seasons in Fargo (2003-13). He won FCS titles in 2011, 2012 and 2013 before leaving for Wyoming.
