the 8 million athletics match. It's in real danger.

Here's where the contact info for senators and representatives can be found.

Please take time and email you representatives today about the athletics match and how vital it is. They'll be voting on this budget item today or tomorrow. Let's make our voices heard

Unfortunately my representative is one of the douche bags the sponsored the amendment.

If you want to listen to debate live:

Its pretty depressing how bad everything they do sounds.

There is talk on the other board that all the contacting of members of the legislature, by fans, is starting to make some head way. A couple guys appear to be completely dialed in and the tone today is better than yesterday.

But, as Lander has pointed out, continue to contact.

Go Pokes!!

Sent a message to Dave Zwonitzer (my representative). I actually talked to him about this at a lobbying event Monday night, and he seemed receptive to my input.

Sent messages to all the Laramie county reps. voicing my displeasure for this whole BS situation and my complete support of the $8 million match. We'll see what happens...

Hope it's not too little too late. I've gotten emails from CJC and Wyoming athletics department saying to email representatives just today. This should have happened weeks ago.

As an out of state student who has a love for Cowboy athletics, any suggestions on who I should contact? I feel I could present a fairly well put together message for many of them that they've not considered.

Contact everyone. Do a mass email. It can't hurt.

Anyone have a reasonable template to hand out? I'll email it around to some friends with the links to the legislative contacts.

This is the email CJC sent me. It could be improved a lot, but here it is:

Dear Cowboy Joe Club Members,
We apologize for the impersonal email, but we need your help this morning!
If you support the CJC match it is as important as ever to contact your local house representatives. Click on this link. http://legisweb.state.wy.us/LegislatorSummary/LegislatorList.aspx?strHouse=H&strStatus=N" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Please feel free to use the example provided below:
Dear Representative __________,
I support fully funding the $8M match to support University of Wyoming Athletics. The costs of operating a Division I athletics program are rising and the State needs to play a role in funding our ONLY Division I program.
Most great public universities have a healthy and vibrant athletics program. We CANNOT go backwards. This is not additional dollars and in fact, it is a 20% reduction from what the University asked for and currently has in matched dollars.
We need to be great as a state and as a University and this allocation will assist us in doing so.

Thank you for your time today and as always, GO POKES!

Contacted my peeps. Got a response from one as well. To put it lightly, it wasn't a favorable response either.

Me, too. From Pelkey.

It kills me that any rep from Laramie can't see this is a good thing for the community.

Pelkey is a piece of work. He is a sponsor of the amendment.

Short sighted and narrow minded. Isn't there like 1.8 billion in rainy day fund? But I also made the comment about how it hurts not only UW athletics but Laramie community.

I heard back from my Senator, Hank Coe who is the chairman of the Education Committee. He is going to vote for the match.

And here we go....

Pelkey says the 8 million would be re-directed the to the block grant fund. The amendment text says nothing of the kind.
