Now that we see the BCS is obviously run by the SEC....do we see a bigger push by the Pac-12, by the Big 12 and other conferences for maybe a 4-8 team playoff?

Probably not because they're all in cahoots with each other and there is way too much money to loose to not have the system they have now.

Read Death to the BCS. Having a playoff would actually bring in WAY more money than the current BCS does. The only people that would lose money are the bowl executives who make ridiculous salaries and wine and dine ADs to get buy-in.

agree the SEC tried to push a plan to avoid this.

It's better to have something like 16- 8 teams conferences where the conference champ goes to a playoff bracket or even 1st and 2nd go to a playoff bracket (I prefer a 32 team playoff = 5 weeks). It just makes too much sense and is more $.
The 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams from a conference could be matched up in a 1 game bowl, but only for teams with real winning records.
I hate the bcs and the AQ stuff.

Reminds me of how about 20 of Southern Mississippi's players are threatening to boycott playing their bowl game in Hawai'i against (I think Nevada) because they wanted to play up against a stronger team (I think State Penn).

I agree and a lot of other people agree with this, but the bowl execs & the bcs admins are greedy and will do anything to protect the cartel. I really think they are very close to the edge of the line of the anti-trust laws and maybe they have crossed it. I won't watch their bowl games or contribute to their support in any way. espn is a major player and supporter of the cartel also.
