Patrick Arnold commits to UW

I'm all for getting as many Nebraska kids as possible, whether scholarship or walk-on. While in the land of corn for the Nebraska game, I saw some stat of NFL players by state and Nebraska has a disproportionately high amount of kids in the NFL. I was surprised and impressed. Believe it or not, there's a lot of talent in Nebraska.
If I was a kid growing up in Nebraska, I'd get really good at just about anything that might get me out of Nebraska...

I wonder if there will be anymore really good gets. We had 38 visitors for the AFA game, we've won the Front Range championship, and we definitely look like we have a bright future.

I'm betting Gordie Haug is really busy right now. :D
Thirty-eight kids taking in the WYO-AFA game. If that game can't get a recruit excited about the direction of the program and atmosphere, I don't know what would. Here's a pic taken by a recruit's Dad prior to the game:

amazing what winning does for recruiting. Had those 38 kids saw us trucked, it no doubt has an impact. I was at the Cal Poly game a few years ago. I know of one of the recruits at that game. He left with not much hope.

HUGE win on Saturday. That win was bigger to me than CSU. Not by a lot, but Air Force just came off a huge win over Navy and were even getting Top 25 votes.

Agreed that this was as big of a win as CSU. Back to back wins against our two biggest conference rivals is something I don't think anyone would have predicted at the beginning of the season.

I love the fact that we're 4-0 in our last 4 home games. We're rewarding our fans that come to the games with victories. Our fans need that.

Arnold received his offer in April, but his affection for Wyoming dates back even further. Growing up, he saw Gretna product Alex Stover go on to play for the Cowboys, and the seed was planted.

Arnold’s coach, Dave Shrader, is familiar with the Cowboys, too. He coached in Ord, Nebraska, when future Wyoming quarterback Randy Welniak was there.

“I just think it’s the way that coaches approached it,” Shrader said of Arnold’s commitment. “Very honest. Very sincere. Interested. Never gave up on Patrick, even when he was looking at other options, looking at other places, checking everything out. They were always there.”

Plus, Arnold, who described himself as “outdoorsy,” was enamored with Laramie.

“I love everything about the town,” he said. “It’s a beautiful place, a beautiful campus and awesome coaches. I can’t emphasize that enough.”
