Excellent. Which bet - a 6'er, or a charity?

Also, if there are any other Nebraska fans that want in on the action, please let me know!

I'll take your bet as well (I'd feel more comfortable at 225, but what the heck).

Charity for me.

I'd put more money on Brett Smith throwing for over 300 than I would on Abdullah breaking off 200 rushing yards. It sickens me how RED some peoples glasses are that they just cannot fathom anyone throwing the ball against a secondary completely unproven (with the exception of Evans). Great you were the best defense in the history of sports last season, guess what you lost 11 of those starters. Its a new year. Brett Smith will break them in just fine. GO POKES
Don't care to get in the Brett Smith argument (I agree is a good QB). But the statement bolded is 100% untrue. We literally did not loose one of the 5 CB's that played major minutes last year (Evans, Mitchell, Baptise, Green, Seisay). They are ALL back, one made a switch to safety (Andrew Green) so we could get more of them on the field. The other safety position will be held by a guy that played some big minutes in the dime package (Cooper). So the "completely unproven secondary" statement made is pretty false. O well though, best of luck Saturday. Lets hope for no injuries! GBR!

I know you didn't loose anyone but did you LOSE anyone? There wasn't 11 heavy contributors from last years team that graduated? It is quite possible that I have my facts wrong but could have sworn the Nebraska lost 11 seniors who had serous playing time

We lost a lot on D...but not a lot in the secondary. So like I said..you calling them a "secondary completely unproven" is false yes. We lost 3 outta 4 Dline starters, 3 starting LB's, and 2 safeties (which I discussed in my initial response). So while most of the defense is unproven, the secondary is far from. And if you wanna play spelling police....your statement should have read 11 seniors who had "SERIOUS" not serous playing time.

I'm not sure how I feel about the 200 yard mark, so here's my offer (feel free to reject it):

I'll bet the $10 to charity wage that Martinez has a better passer rating than Smith does.

Let's parlay it. $10.00 still. Have to win both (to win):

Me: Smith > 200 yards passing, and a higher passer rating than Martinez
You: Smith < 200 yards passing, and a lower passer rating than Martinez

Deal?

Every report that I have read or seen has said the Huskers secondary is the defensive weak link going into the season, and that is what I ran with. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Do you have links to any of those sources? Because that's just...mind-boggling to me.

Ditto. Our secondary returns pretty much everyone from a unit that held opposing QB's to an NCAA-low 47% completion rate last year. I'm not sure how they'd be considered the weak link of the defense. The main point of concern/curiosity among Husker fans is the front 7, which almost completely turned over from last year.
