Pac12 vs MWC Sept (Lawsuit Update)

12-05-25 update:

MOTION to Dismiss Defendant's Counterclaims; Memorandum of Points and Authorities filed by Pac-12 Conference. Responses due by 12/19/2025.

Can’t read without a ‘PacerMonitor’ subscription.

Looks to simply be a routine discovery filing from title but who knows.
I don’t have a subscription but figured it was a discovery maneuver by the p12 with a rebuttal by the mwc.

It looks like Wilner used his subscription to put out the tidbits he did. I suspect what he put out was cherry picked to make the issue look like the mwc is being uncooperative when maybe the p12 is trying to paint themselves as continuing to be injured by the horrible mwc.

Every case has several discovery motions typically. One party is always trying to paint the other party as unreasonable or uncooperative in responding to discovery requests. The magistrate spends their day adjudicating discovery disputes.

Typical and usually not of huge consequence in the scheme of things.

Just kicking the can down the road, I imagine. The PAC-whatevers are stalling the process, so they can build their coffers. This will probably drag on for a decade with discovery, hearings, appeals, etc..

They’re trying to avoid bankruptcy. The deal the pacstabbers thought they were getting isn’t enough to pay the bills in a couple years. And the longer they drag things out, the more they will try to poach from the MWC, AAC, and anyone else willing to answer their call. The stupid thing is, no matter how you slice it, the west now has two football conferences that will compete for recruits and ONE bid to a playoff- along with 4 other conferences. In basketball, there’s now 3 conferences that will split NCAA bids on an annual basis too. IF they would have just waited out Wazzu and OSU’s crying, a merger would’ve happened and there would have been a conference out west that could have been the best of the rest (G6) and a multiple bid basketball league. But no, water it down, a call yourself superior, and see what happens. Dumb.
