No, I think it would cost them millions in the long run. They were only looking at bringing in an additional 2-3 million per school in revenue but at the expense of giving AT&T a sizable ownership stake in PAC-12 Network. They're not stupid. The equity in the network is worth way more long term than the near-term revenue spike.
