Outside of the Box Thinking...

As the NCAA football world turns, I think UW should explore some serious out of the box thinking...which of course will take new leadership, etc., so I am throwing my name in the hat.

Here is McPeachy's first plan of attack:

•Wyoming partners with Texas (or ???) Football only.
•Athletes are recruited & sent to Wyoming for 3 years, to develop, grow, etc. (a recruiting partnership of sorts)
•After 3 years, they then enroll in Texas for the last 2 years of eligibility
•Texas and their deep pockets pay all the NIL costs, etc., and track development
•Wyoming scholarships the athletes, and not only grows them, educates them
•Superstar players (the blue chippers, top 50, 5 Star) only commit to 1 year at Wyoming

Of course, a lot of details are left out, but I ask, WHY NOT!

Interesting concept. I have wondered why the NFL and some Universities have not reached some sort of similar arrangement. The conclusion I have come to is why would the NFL pay for something (developing players) when they already get it for free?

We might be more likely to do that with I80 Nebraska since that is the closest P5 without another FBS in state.

The best part would be Nebraska gets to say who the coaches are and the scheme that would be implemented.

Possibly if it happened soon Bohl Jr might have a chance to stay on if daddy has any sway. I’m not suggesting any nepotism just that CB has Nebraska ties.

I’m theory it sounds like a viable idea. From a legal perspective, it can’t and doesn’t work without long term employment contracts, unions, minimum wage laws, etc…due to the very same anti-trust laws that got us where we are today.

It could be feasible to a certain extent. I imagine it would start with some sort of academic alignment; partner Universities from an academic standpoint are relatively common. Once the academic side is in order, then would come some sort of coaching alignment (similar strategies, workouts, practices, etc.). This would be a bit of challenge because it would be up to the ADs not the coaches to push it along. Then you have joint practices, camps, etc. through offseason and make sure it's around the transfer period.

The P4 team might not be able to officially guarantee certain things, but it could be well known that their first look in the portal is at their partner University.

Sustainability would be a bit of a challenge but I imagine if it worked well for the P4 school, the other problem would be everyone else copying it.
