this offense looks different. DC and brett said not much has changed... but that triple option thingy; were smith can hand off, keep it and roll towards the flat, or throw the bubble screen; I've never seen that play.
maybe just having a solid line and solid running game have changed the flow. it sure is fun to watch. wick is a fast little bowling ball... his center of gravity and balance are way ahead of anybody ive seen at Wyoming in a while. Devin was fast and could cut, but he didn't stay as compact as wick does... wicks almost always falls or drives downhill, taking a pile with him.
I can't say enough about our line. the tackles, guards, and center... what a difference.
ive seen jones, perez, strong all make pancake blocks. Im sure the tackles have too, but seeing the interior of the line flattening d-tackles is awesome.
I was impressed with gentry... even though the two holding calls hurt.
eddie is an animal... for being a little bit light, he really bull rushes with arms extended deep into the backfield, then throws the olineman and breaks to the ball. crazy grip strength
olive impressed me too... twice I saw him beat double teams. when he has one on one blocking he pushes and maintains his gap, but once a double team comes to him he gets very low. he drops his pad level and creates a mound of lineman in the gap... then he makes a leg tackle. he might be part grizzly bear, as it seems like he's stronger while running on four legs.
puletasi, he's like the sasquatch on the jerky commercials. don't make him mad, or your ass is going airborne.
and wacha. what can I say... I don't know where he comes from... there will be solid blocking and the running back will have a little daylight, then the running back gets hit from a flash of brown; then you see Wacha get up from the pile clapping his hands. its like he goes into cloak mode or has invisible powers, cause nobody see's him till its too late
and huff... he will take the 1st team mountain west safety spot this year. he covers everything, and is the safety net that stops the big play. he plays with everything in front of him
its been a good two weeks.
