Our national perception

Something to consider in all this mess is the state of Wyoming's budget. Unlike the majority of our conference mates, we have the ability to 'kick it' into high gear if the political will was sufficiently mustered. Revenues continue to look bright for the foreseeable future, population growth is manageable, and there is only one institutional mouth to feed. It may not sound like much but, with the bloodletting going on among major institutions over diminishing budgets, we can at least advertise the fact that we have the cash (on hand) to level the field fairly quickly. It's not much but it does provide us with some leverage in the 'potential' arena.

Good luck with the politicians in Cheyenne. They could be running a trillion dollar surplus and UW athletics wouldn't see anymore than it does now.
