other schools you secretly root for.

Its easy to hate on schools like csu and byu, but what schools do you root for other then the Pokes?

For me its:
Cal Bears - have so friends that have degrees from berkley. They are bear/poke fans so i return the support that way. Plus bowl game partys are fun when they come home around the holidays.

North Dakota Sioux - hockey team is always very good. D2 national football champs awhile ago. They are definately the one fcs team im actually wanting to watch play us.

South Dakota Tech Hardrockers - they have the coolest small stadium in the country. One side prolly around 30+ rows of bleacher seating. The other has 3 tiers of drive in parking. D2 school, and located in rapid city like me so easy to follow.
 
Wisconsin Badgers - Always enjoyed Wisconsin, but after going there for Grad School and working within the Athletics Department they became my favorite team to root for except, of course, for Wyo.

Notre Dame Irish - I realize they are very polarizing but I've always enjoyed the tradition and loyalty surrounding the Irish. After my college days they became a distant third to the 2 UW's.

Any team playing byu - My dislike for byu is greater than any other team, even csu.
 
All the service academies, what they have to go through as student athletes is remarkable. After that, they make great sacrifices for the county that most of us cannot compare to.

Anyone playing BYwho, CSU, UU
 
Service Academies followed by Notre Dame (for reasons listed above). Penn State used to be on there, but with Joe Paterno dead and everything else, no.
 
AFA whenever they aren't playing the Pokes...I have a much better chance working with those cadets in the future than I do most Poke players.
 
I always root for Air Force. I like what TCU did the past 10 years and will probably continue to root for them in the Big 12
 
Nebraska (Grad School)
William & Mary (Law School)

I have liked the way Coach K's teams play basketball since I saw them while I was learning to play the game and Duke still had not ever won an NCAA tournement championship. I couldn't care less about the rest of Duke's teams.

Service Academies
Any team that uses Wyoming high school kids.
Any team from the Mountain Time Zone (except Colorado) playing against a non-Western team (as long as the non-Western team is not a school I attended.)

The University of Virginia, Princeton University and the CAA are also growing on me.
 
Montana, since I'm a season ticket holder.
Air Force, because I love the tradition, the work those guys put in, and most of all, the triple option.
Used to root for Texas Tech when Mike Leach was there, so now I'll secretly root for Washington State, since Leach is there, along with Mike Breske.
 
Wyoming. I always root for Wyoming. :D

And my big brother played ball at TAMU, so I root for them unles they're playing us. (My big sister went to Oklahoma St., but I cant root for them. Sorry sis.)

And in case ya didn't know...
I'm Sooner born and Sooner bred.
 
My main loyalty is Wyoming.

But I also root for Oklahoma State (up until 2012 OSU reminds me of UW) and Hawaii (mainly due to some good friends that live there or are from there).
 
East Carolina. Both my parents are grads.

and for all you notre dame fans... I can't help but hate a team that is so OVERATED every year and don't deserve the kind of media attention they get. Keep living in the past Notre Dame fans

One problem: Notre Dame did beat the living crap outta Hawaii in the 2008 Hawaii Bowl, 49-21. So the Irish actually has won a bowl this century.....sadly.

Passing interest for their history and that stuff, and that's about it. Penn State would have been there instead, but the man who made them was fired and died, and the program (and school for that matter) are in a state of upheveal and everything is falling apart.
 
Notre Dame is the biggest anomaly in college sports. No recent BCS bowl wins, national championships, solid Top-10 finishes....nothing. Yet NBC whores out to them for a bajillion $$$ every year. Even the playoff talks had to include them for whatever reason.

Not a fan of any dakota college, as I'm from SD as well.

I'm a 3rd generation UW Alum. I'm all about Wyoming.

I'd say the only other schools I'll pull for are ASU (love that place) and USC. But I could care less if they win or lose. I live and die with my pokes and it ruins my week when we lose a game. Utah State last year almost killed me from depression lol

Every fan base has its idiots. Especially on the internet. Have you ever been to the MWCBoard? Some of the Wyoming fans there would make you embarrassed to be affiliated with UW. If BSU weren't a juggernaut in football, nobody would say a damned thing about them. You notice how some opposing fans have become more aggressively negative towards Wyoming after last years 8-win season? The more you win, the more the haters emerge. Believe it or not, there are some really nice BSU fans out there, along with the idiots. BSU is just way too easy a target...

There are some rational BSU fans over there, but a good majority makes you wonder if they would even be on there if BSU had a single 6-6 season or osmething like that.
 
I'm sad that no one admits that they secretly root for OU.

I know you're out there...

Winning will produce bandwagon fans, and BSU no doubt has a lot of them. You go to UW fromolwyoming, I guarantee you this fall you will see tons of UW students going to the games that wouldn't otherwise if the team weren't winning. And given time, if UW wins at a high level and repetitively, watch people get cocky real fast. Before you know it Wyoming fans will be "the worst fans out there".
