OT: Squirrel Fire

Woodslanding is gone, 7000 acres burned, and last I heard, heading towards Laramie.

I'm in the middle of Kansas right now, but my mom is back in Laramie and told me just a little bit ago that Woodslanding no longer exists. :(

So I guess it is headed towards Centennial?

I'm in New Hampshire for the summer... which I guess is not a bad place to be right now considering.

I read today where Montana has the biggest and most wildfires right now.. it's ridiculous.. none burning around Missoula, a few East of here towards Butte and Deer Lodge.. but this summer is really gonna suck.

One of my cousins on my mom's side had to evacuate her place near Encampment, WY due to fires heading her way this last weekend. All of my friends and family fortunately hadn't had to do that.

We are on our 3rd fire here and I have to say I am sick of smoke. The 85,000 acre Arapaho fire has been literally blacking out the sun here for several days. Thursday-Sunday my back yard looked like a goddamn scene from Dante's Peak. Tonight there is no wind so I can only see a slight orange glow.
Sucks about the Squirrel fire too. We were going to go riding up there in two weeks but I guess not now

Yikes, those are pretty large. At least it sounds like they haven't done too much damage as far as buildings go... between Fort Collins and Colorado Springs, over 600 homes have burned.

Stay safe if they come your way, though! Supposedly we're getting monsoon type rains later this week, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Rain? What the fuck is that? Farming blows this year. I have had ONE inch of rain in 2012 :brick: :brick: :brick: :brick:

I saw a fire map of the Western U.S. this morning, and it looks like about one third of the State of Montana is on fire.

Aaron, I would hate to be a farmer this year - too dry for crops & no feed for cattle.

Unless you live in the South East. Seems like all of their crops should be floating away with the rain they're getting.
