OT: Something that Laramie REALLY needs!

I remember eating at the Cavlryman years ago in the mid-90s with my grandmother, half-uncle, and a buddy of mine who was on the football team at UW at the time. Wasn't too impressed with the food then.

And it has gotten worse...consistently worse.

Nastiest meal in Laramie. Highest priced meal in Laramie.

the rest of the town is a dump. It's unfortunate but true. The mentality really needs to change, and foster a new atmosphere to go along with the growing university.

Obviously, somebody didn't pay attention in economics class. And is a clueless jackass to boot.

You have to admit there's not much of an atmosphere for "pride of ownership" in Laramie. There are way too many slumlords that only care about getting their rent money. So jackass or not, he does have a point. It's something that really bothered me when I lived in Laramie.

And yes, there are very nice parts of Laramie too, I'm not taking away from that. But there's still a reason many visitors comment on large areas looking rather slummy. They're not just making it up. :(

On the flip side, Laramie has waaaaay more GOOD restaurants than other towns its size. From Altitude's to Anong's to Corona Village. And overall, they're very reasonably priced too...

I have never understood why any occupant, of any such apartment / house / etc., would allow themselves to be treated only as a dollar bill. Sure there are slumlords in every community, Laramie included, but why in the hell would you live / continue to pay rent, in a situation like that? Nobody is forcing anybody to live in a specific place / area...those decisions are up to the occupant. I could go on forever on this topic...but it isn't very relevent to the original post about what Laramie really needs - restaurants.

In case you haven't noticed, there isn't a vast amount of quality living space availible in laramie. if you don't get a good place early, you're SOL. It comes down to the fact that some aren't going to have a choice where to live. in a town of 20,000, there aren't a whole lot of options, and i don't see any new subdivisions popping up with affordable quality housing. so, nice try again.

Well, just to clarify, ever since they started tearing down the old marriage dorms/whatever they're called, apartments are at a premium these days. So, not really much choice for the time being.

Don't be a dick. Laramie's population is down to 20,000 now, huh? And sounds like a personal problem, if you don't plan ahead and get off your ass, you may have to pay higher rent, or live somewhere that isn't the fucking Waldorf Astoria for a while. Or god forbid, find a few roommates and live in a 4 bedroom HOUSE in one of the nicest areas in Laramie. You must be part of that same lazy fucking generation, that wants all the gratification with putting in none of the work. Let me help you all out (that can't find a "decent / affordable" place to live):

A Texas Roadhouse! Had some tonight in Fort Collins (here for a doctor's appointment), and it was good! Also had some in Cheyenne awhile back. Definitly need one.

A few years ago, there was a food poisoning outbreak that originated at Tx roadhouse. 50 or 60 people got really sick, some hospitalized. I never go there. The best steak in town is at the Charco Broiler, right on hwy 14.

In laramie, I used to really like Tommy Jacks. They had really good cajun and quite a few tv's. Is it not popular anymore? I'm surprised to hear that about the Calvaryman. In the 90's and early 2000's I thought it was fantastic.

Never had food poisoning in my life (luckily). What I did have was a burger that was well-done. It was pretty damn good, as was the chicken strip appetizer I had prior to it. And come Cowboy Cooler drink. Non-alcoholic (could have used some, as it needed that extra kick to be perfect), but good none-theless.
