OT: Something that Laramie REALLY needs!

A Texas Roadhouse! Had some tonight in Fort Collins (here for a doctor's appointment), and it was good! Also had some in Cheyenne awhile back. Definitly need one.

for a college town, Wyoming lacks a good place to go and watch games besides the library. The alibi is okay, but that's a townie fixture... a buffalo wild wings would kill it in laramie.

Almost all franchises have population minimums as one of several prerequsuites before they will even consider building in a given area. That is probably one of the big obstacle Laramie faces to attracting franchises such as Buffalo Wild Wings, etc.

A Buffalo Wild Wings opened in the town I grew up in just last year, and its smaller than Laramie, so I don't think that applies for that specific example. I think it probably has more to do with the population demographics of Laramie, and how a third of the population is just students who are only there 9 months of the year.

How about a mens team that can win?

Solid.

As much as I dislike Bozeman, they have a ton of those places.. BWW, Old Chicago, couple others.. I assume they do well. Missoula doesn't have many places like that.. lots of local owned places, but none of the "chain" places that are cool to hang at except Hooters, which isn't all that great. I would agree w/ the above, Laramie needs help in that dept, but as Spin said, demographics probably hurt it since lots of Laramie is based on the U.

I think it's nice that Laramie doesn't have the typical "chain" restaurants. Chili's and Crapplebees is already too much IMO. That's been one of the best things about moving here. Restaurants and other business here are local and owned by locals. None of the corporate crap. I was glad to get away from my hometown that became overrun with all that junk. Long live mom and pop

Last 3 times Ive gone to the Roadhouse in Cheyenne the prime has been terrible. Poorly seasoned and full of tendons. But the rolls are so goddamn good I always get the waitress to give me a box for the road.

Agreed there Cornpoke. But Laramie does need a steak place.
Yeah a really good local steak place would be a nice addition. Calvaryman is a high end steak place is it not? I have never been there and it's a little ways out of town.

What I think would go over well here and if I had the money I would do it. A real BBQ place, with southern style pulled pork, ribs, brisket. That's the one thing I miss about the south: Good BBQ and Fried chicken.

I would say that many places need a good BBQ place. Being from TN, I'm sure you're used to some good BBQ. I'm surprised that living in cattle country like we do that more of these places don't exist. Here in Missoula we have Famous Dave's.. which sucks.

Quit ordering it... :) I love buffalo wild wings it is a great place to go watch sports and eat the atmosphere is awesome and they have nights with specials so it really isnt that expensive

There used to be a place on 3rd that had killer beef ribs... then a student bought it, then it went out of business haha... then it was the rambler or the gambler or something... powder river rib company maybe? Bring that shit back. I agree, the best resturants in Laramie are all local joints... but as far as bringing a group of 15 and watching games, B dubs would be nice... and give me 57 orders of rattlesnack bites from t roadhouse.. those things are amazing.

We went there last year before the Colorado State vs Wyo basketball game and it was HORRIBLE. They had fried vegetables instead of real food and the steak was gross. And VERY over priced

Yeah, I've been there a few times. Not the best place. Used to be alright. But now, it more serves to truckers.

I remember eating at the Cavlryman years ago in the mid-90s with my grandmother, half-uncle, and a buddy of mine who was on the football team at UW at the time. Wasn't too impressed with the food then.

There's a fairly decent new sports bar on snowy range road that isn't a bad place to watch a game. They have a huge HD screen and seem to have decent deals. I haven't eaten there yet but it smelled good.

Laramie definately needs more "chain" bars and restaurants. Chili's sucks and Applebees gets very old after a while. I doubt it'll happen since the town seems so backwards on growth and development. The only place that takes pride in growth and development is the University, the rest of the town is a dump. It's unfortunate but true. The mentality really needs to change, and foster a new atmosphere to go along with the growing university.

I recall there being a good southern-style barbeque place on Grand across from the dorms while I was there (2004ish), that had really good food. I remember eating there a lot (probably helped I knew the "chef"). It didn't last very long as their prices were a little higher than the normal dorm folks were willing to spend I think.
