The white one could pass for a UW helmet.

Maybe NMST, but not Wyoming. We don't use a mascot that resembles the one of the helmet, but New Mexico State might.

I don't think NMSU can use that mascot on anything athletics related per a recent (last 2-5 years) licensing agreement.

I thought the licensing agreement between UW and OSU said the mascot could be used by each school but only in that school's colors? No big deal to anyone, I'm sure, just curious.

Back in the 80s that was an alternate logo.

I fail to be impressed by that helmet. There is only ONE Cowboys Nation...and it ain't in Stillwater.

In fact, I believe the NCAA should make Oklahoma State find another nickname.

I was in school from the late 80's to early 90's and the only think that reminds me of is when Wyoming unveiled the prarie gold stuff.

We've used Pistol Pete before, but from what I remember, it was a different format.

Would have to do some research but wasn't Oklahoma St. the first school to use Pistol Pete as a mascot or logo? Maybe one of you guys know but from the little I have researched it that is what it seems to me.

I believe so and think that is why Wyoming doesn't use Pistol Pete as much as we used to...if at all.

They used that logo first BUT...UW beat them to the punch when we got the copyright to it first by 5-7 days ahead of Okie State, I believe.

Also of note, we were the Cowboys before those imposters were.

Correctamundo! UW had the nickname starting around the mid-1890s. Okie State, founded in 1890 (4 years after UW BTW) had two nicknames while being known as Oklahoma A & M. The Cowboys and Aggies. The Cowboys nickname didn't become official until 1957 when the university changed it's name to....Oklahoma State.

Thank you. Did it without the use of a media guide and all from memory.
