Is there a parking lot at Alameda? Looks like a Home Depot and that is it.

Not much....there is a lot behind the KMart. It isn't a popular park and ride, so there are usually spots available. As many have mentioned, staying downtown will solve all your problems. Lots to do and see. The 16th Street Mall is a people watching paradise...for all the weird reasons. The Zoo, Mint, Elitches, Botanical Gardens, and WaterWorld should be open until Labor Day (but is a little north of downtown). Lots of good restaurants downtown as well.
