OT: Denver Broncos Games

So, we are going to make a weekend sports trip out of the UW home opener. Probably hit up the Denver preseason game on Sept 3, Rockies on the 4th, then Pokes on the 5th.

Any suggestions on the easiest way to get to the stadiums? Mass transit, train, trolley, bike, parking, etc.

Also, has anyone been to a preseason game? Are they still pretty full? Looking at getting tickets on Stubhub. They are like $90 a ticket still.

We always take the light rail train system. The train stops in front of Mile High Stadium and ends at Union Station...which is a couple blocks from Coors field. The best place to park in the station at I-25 and Broadway or the Alameda Station (Alameda and I-25 vicinity). This way you can avoid the parking nightmare that will happen after the game.

I've been to a couple preseason games and they do get crowded. Not as bad as regular season, but still crowded. Not sure of the prices, but you should check other sites besides stub hub. This one seems pretty good.

Is there a parking lot at Alameda? Looks like a Home Depot and that is it.

We took an Uber from our hotel.. easy peasy.

I concur with the Uber or Lift, however there is a gameday pass you can get for the light rail like someone mentioned. I haven't tried that yet because my mass transit pass doesn't include it. Where are you staying? It depends a lot on that.

When we used Uber we walked to Brooklyn's after the game (since it's own by Montana alums) and went from there.. way easier than trying to Uber from the stadium.

Yes and no. Since you make a reservation, there are always a lot of no shows. I have gone without a reservation and was easily able to join one, filling people's spots that didn't go. It's pretty easy if your group is small.

In that case; if it were us, I'd drive in earlier in the day and find a cheap parking spot north downtown area by the river, and bike if you can (best way) wasn't sure if that was an option for you. There are bike paths that will take you pretty much straight in and out that hug the river.

I honestly had no idea Coors had tours. I know Budweiser does.

I realize this is so ironic that someone who doesn't drink alcohol has any desire to hit up a brewery, but I think it is a cool process i think would be fun. Any suggestion on interesting denver to dos, that would be appreciated. I'm not set on Coors, just don't know any different

Assuming you have kids: the zoo, the botanical gardens, 16th street mall. I don't care for the aquarium, it's kinda crappy. Tons of good food options.

Rodizio is always a must-eat for us when we go there. LasCruces had some good suggestions. Most of my Denver suggestions involve cool bars, but that does you no good. :thumb:

If I were in your shoes...

I would get a hotel downtown (Embassy, Union Station, BP, Oxford, Marriot, Hyatt, Curtis, Westin, etc., whatever is in your budget). You can walk to both the Donko's game and the Rockies game...taking in the sights & sounds of the city.

Since you don't imbibe...a few suggestions:

1. Jump on the red bikes, and bike around downtown. Consider even biking to / from the Rockies game.
2. Hit Elitches for a few coasters before / after any of your games.
3. Walk the 16th street mall - check out all the CSewe and CU grads panhandling.
4. Take Uber or Lyft to the Museum of Natural History, the Denver Zoo, City Park, etc.
5. Check out Cherry Creek mall - walk from the mall back downtown via the "creek trail".
