Oregon thoughts

I always root for the underdog. And I "believe we can pull this out"... just taking sides here. Oregon is badass though! so wouldn't be surprised if we lose this one (sarcasm)... but here are my considerations for this game.

1. MSU didn't stay true to who they are. I watched the game, at least the first half before I had to go to work. I have no idea what dantonio was thinking running spread attack for the majority of the first half... can't speak for the second half... didn't see it. MSU had success, surprisingly, running 5 line man, 0 running backs, quarterback in shotgun. I think this may have been a belief that cook was a better spread quarterback...
I think the reason they had success was that Oregon didn't expect them to run this much spread formation. once adjustments were made at half time, Oregon opened up a old fashioned can of whoop-ass.

*We need to stay true to who we are. this is the key... if we lose, so be it. but it will allow us to keep some sort of time of possession. we tried to stay true to airforce, and we had issues... but had the falcons reeling in that last quarter.

2. this is huge... marshal for Oregon. Nzeocha is going to be very tired at the end of the game. did anybody else notice mark's speed when robinette caught the pass for airforce in the first half and might have had a touchdown... only to be chased down by mark. Marshal is faster and nastier... but I promise you that mark will have the duty of covering this kid. Mark is a grown man, Son!

3. The oline... kirk has shown a glimmer of life... and I like it. however... THIS is the key too the whole game, whether we lose huge, keep it respectable, or pull the biggest upset of the existence of mankind; the oline is the focus for this game. if we can't get yards running, if we can't protect the quarterback: then we will not cover the line Vegas gave us.

4. Ive never wanted to beat anybody as bad as these guys. not even the Nebraska series. more than likely, cowboys feel the same way. bohl has a little bit of medieval magic up his sleeve. the coaching is solid. the play vigen called to win the airforce game was.... how should I say this.... perfect. before the second time out by airforce we lined up exactly the same as the play that won the game. we knew what we were going to do... by staying true to our offense, the goal-line package confused the falcons so much that their fans drove to Missoula afterwards to get home.

5. be who we are! nobody expects us to win except me and coach bohl. this loss will not matter to anybody... its a top 3 team, and we are on their field. nobody cares, its a gimmie. our front seven, and our team wants to show that they play the game tough. we have been proving toughness on a much smaller scale for the past two weeks. however, this team will still plug away in autzin. can you smell the coming storm? I can... the barometer has shifted, my knees hurt. a hurricane is coming to Oregon, not sure if its east bound, or west bound; but there definitely is a earth changing event.

6. pray, to whatever god you worship. pray in the sense of revelations.

Believe me, I would absolutely LOVE a win. But Oregon's speed and aggressiveness are second to none so far (what other team has so dismantled another top 25 team?). If we can somehow pull it off, Bohl would be my hero and the players would all go into the Hall of Fame.

Off your meds again??

trying to focus for this Oregon game... can't put legal weed or jack daniels down the gullet... I live in Washington. this state is weird. Washington fans believe they can and will beat anybody... took the hawks a couple of years and shit talking paragraphs from Richard Sherman... but they pulled out the big bully beat down on the donks. guess I like defensive backs that become head coaches... YAAR...

lets go cowboys, fill the ducks full of lead... feed the family on the Oregon trail (remember that game from first grade) survival!

not proclaiming a victory... but I will never say we are going to lose. just not in my nature. F the police.

I believe we have the talent on this team to pull upsets. Oregon could easily look over us.
Our D has impressed me. They are by no means "jugernaut" status. But they play disciplined, hard nosed football. If there is one thing I've notices it's Oregon has struggled against disciplined, hard nosed football: Stanford (20points), Arizona (16points). Most everyone they've played have had a rather "wispy" D, similar to what we've had under the DC era. If we run our assignments and hit these guys hard (Stanton on Hart knockout hit) and keep doing it, I think it could break them. Oregon players thrive on big plays of not getting hit. But they do slow down, stutter step and second guess decisions more when a D punches them in the mouth a few times.
Our O will need to step up huge! Be it blocking, although I really think our OL did really well against AFA.

KansasCowboy! How can you say that? Just look at our rushing numbers in the game.

True, but it's almost impossible for any team to rush or for 7 blockers to stop 9 defenders. I was actually quite impressed with the 7 yard run by May and the 12 yard run by Wick against a "9 in the Box" D. And it wasn't just 9 defenders in the box, they were blitzing almost every LB during those runs. It was a wave of Falcons, and even with that it was minimal sacks, and gaining 1-2 yard runs. But they opened up our Passing game.
Now Oregon is far more athletic in the trenches, so we will need to take care of business to have a chance.

I'm not calling for a win, but, I'm also not saying it's out of the realm of possibility. Anybody can beat anybody. There are so many more ways to look at it. But if their players talk and think like their fans do, then they may be in for an upset...

Alright d-bags... heres what im getting at lol... how we train for oregon. Watch closely

AND HOW WE PLAY ON SATURDAY!

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DssRoNVgW3I" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Quack quack duckies

MSU went a lot of pass because they have good receivers and the Ducks were stuffing the run. If you thought AF was bad, wait until you see the front 7 of Ducks. They are going to absolutely trash our line. Their CBs are good enough for man coverage against our passing game. We'll be lucky to break a 100 yards of offense. If we do, most of it will come in the late 3rd and 4th quarters.

Ducks O is freakishly fast and they have the spread down very well. They will get 15+ yards at will on any pass they attempt.

I'm hoping they rest some guys and we can get some good work in without injury.

We aren't even close to the level of spoiler for a game like this.

Our D played ok, but to say we are " really good" is a little overstatement. Good compared to previous years? Definitely. But we are far from competing with big teams.

Our D got some stops when we needed them, but Air Force was slinging the ball all over the place. LET ME SAY THAT AGAIN... AIR FORCE WAS SHREDDING US PASSING. So, for those that think we have a snowball's chance in hell of even keeping this game close is on that Colorado weed. I think Bohl can help control the clock some, but to think that we are even somewhat close is crazy. Current line is Oregon -43.

This is a different kind of team than Texas or Nebraska. My brutally honest projection is that Oregon undervalues us and gives up an early 3 before dropping 40 something on us then letting up again for a late Cowboy 7.

If we get lucky, switch the 7 and 3.

I hope I'm wrong.

Hope UW can keep it within 60.

Time of possession and some key first downs will be the major factor.

it'll sure be closer than a 43 pt spread, look at South Dakota, they didn't beat them by that much in the 1st game

I think Oregon comes out in their base defense and dials up some sneaky blitz packages to rattle Kirk. Their secondary will play man, because they can and get away with it. Now if we can just maintain some sustained drives the score may not be that bad. Can we run on them? Possibly, because I don't see them doing what AF did with stacking nine in the box. Just hoping Kirk plays loose and has fun. Their Offense is fast, very fast and it will be a great test for our defense. I'm sure Bohl has a sound game plan and will have the players ready to play. Just hoping we keep the score respectable and come out of it healthy and more experienced.

I honestly think the Pokes need to look at what Oregon State did to them last season in the Civil War. Although the Ducks won, they barely won (36-35).

People want to talk about what Stanford did and what Michigan State was supposed to do, but we don't have that type of power.

Last season the Beavers didn't have an O-Line to establish the run, so Mannion (who can not scramble to save his life) threw many screens.
Granted the Beavs had Cooks who won the Biletnikoff and was a 1st round pick and now catches passes from Drew Brees, the Pokes can use some of that speed DC recruited over the past 5 years.

Have Rufran and Gentry, who are both more than capable of throwing some blocks knock some Oregon DBs on their ass, and have Claiborne run free.
Get them concerned about the screen, then have Wick and May blow people up running the ball.

We seriously need to constantly change it up. When something works, don't keep doing it because the Ducks will figure it out. When something works, switch to a different style.
The thing is, we better make sure everything is going to work on Saturday.

Can the Pokes keep contain on Mariota?

speaking of mariota.

not saying this is what coach will do, but I would practice this week to play defense against the Oregon team... the receivers and running backs.

if you over emphasis mariota in the defensive game plan, then everything else opens up to a much greater degree.

Be sound in our assignments. cover our gaps, play improved coverage, let the safeties keep things in front of them.

let mariota prove he is a Heisman finalist. we are underdogs anyway.

again, not saying that is what bohl will do... but its what I would do.
