If we show up in East Lansing next week with that type of game MSU is going to hang 70+ on us and they won't let off the gas. MSU is going to run the score up as much as they can going into conference schedule and it will be ugly as shit if we show up with the mess we had going on today.

So what I don't know is how we played so pathetic and still came out of a win during that clusterfuck of a game. Like that was just a shitty ugly game and yes I'm going to complain about Kirk not taking care of the ball because he didn't, hasn't and has shown absolutely no sign that he will.

This team has to figure something out, We can beat SJSU with this team but other MWC Teams are going to shit all over this offense. The defense can only hang for sooo long before it's just dead, As of tonight we can see the defense will never stop fighting but the fight the offense put up is so weak at times.

I bleed Brown and Gold.. that being said, does anyone who has the slightest grasp on reality expect anything positive from this game?

We have a very good FG kicker and 2 very good RBs?

A win? No. Positive experience sure it could happen but more importantly I think being able to hang tough with a P5 is a huge confidence boost going into the conference schedule. You don't want to get beat 70-14 not only does that not build confidence but it creates doubt.

Yes. $$$$$ and a mention on ESON's Gameday.

Well, I think I found the perfect gif for FAU's players, fans, and coaches.

TBH, I was shocked that MSU scored over 70 yesterday. They've rarely scored more than 50 in the last 5-6 years. Typically not their style.

I feel pretty good about the MSU game. Not so good that I think we're going to win, but I think we'll be proud of the way we play.

In our defense, EMU is horrendous. So.. there's that.

But holy hell, I just have the gut feeling MSU is gonna tee off on us. It's their homecoming, the crowd will be rowdy. Best DC in the country and he's licking his chops looking at the dingbat in brown and gold under center. We are going to get whipped, Utah vs Joe Glenn style.

UNLESS - maybe we are hiding some super secret offense package ready to unleash vs the Spartans? I can only dream. ;)

Yeah, the introduction to the screen pass!

You don't want the key players to get hurt. How do you do that? You let the second string start and play the game. You get your ass kicked (as you would with the first string) And you get some good experience for the subs. The pundits are right - MSU can climb in the polls if they run up the score - which is what they will try - and succeed - to do.

While logically not a terrible idea to start the second stringers because winning the game is highly improbable anyway....

That is not cowboy tough and I'd be embarrassed beyond belief if we laid down without a fight.

We should run up the score before we put second stringers in

Indeed. I'd prefer a 35-point lead late in the third against MSU before we put the second stringers in. It'd be nice if the third stringers got a few snaps in the fourth quarter if we get up by 50+ too.

UW fans acting like we won't improve as the season goes on...again. Amazing.

History would tend to agree, but I think this group is quite a bit different than the last 15 years of UW teams (Vic, Joe, Dickface).

I originally thought the Pokes would be lucky to win 3 games this year, and I am now thinking that they have a shot to win 6 or 7. I think this team is light years ahead of last year's team in terms of discipline, conditioning, and attitude. I see improvements every week. These kids are not quitting this year (I remember the sideline antics during the ass kicking last year by CSU), and I think under Bohl's leadership, the future looks bright for the Cowboys.

History definitely agrees, in both revenue sports. Very few teams that finished strong. 2011 and 2006 come to mind, but other than..uggh:

Football By Coach:

Dickface:

97 - Lost our final 2, and 4 of the last 6 after a promising 5-2 start that included a close (24-10) loss at Ohio St. and a heartbreaking 20-19 loss in Boulder in which we outplayed a quality CU team.

98 - Lost our final 2 after an 8-1 start. Including one of the worst games I can remember laying a 35-0 egg @Tulsa in the final week.

99 - Not bad until the final week. With a share of the inaugural MWC title on the line, the Pokes are fired up to...go out and lose by 32 to a crappy SDSU team. Pokes haven't sniffed a conference title since.

Vic: Hard to tell, his teams sucked at the beginning, middle, and end of every season.

Glenn:

03 - Lost 4 of the last 5, including blowout losses to Utah and UNM.

04 - The Vegas Bowl makes up for it, but the team lost 4 of their last 6 regular season games prior to the bowl game.

05 - Covered earlier

06 - Glenn's best team IMO. 5-3 in a tough MWC, early losses were all close (OT on the road against Syracuse and UVA, one score losses to AFA and a good Boise team). Got absolutely hosed out of a bowl bid by the New Mexico Bowl in favor of an inferior local Lobos team.

07 - Lost 6 of last 7. Really crushing as the Pokes started off 4-1, including a win over TCU. At that point Pokes had been 9-3 in their last 12 going back to the 06 season and it really felt like things were going to take off. A month later, middle fingers were flying and Joe Glenn's tenure was functionally (if not officially) over.

08 - Lost 7 of the last 9 as the Glenn era circled the toilet. One of those was a win at Tennessee though.

09 - Similar to 04, the bowl win kind of makes up for it but the team lost 4 of their last 6 regular season games.

10 - 3-9 overall, so the suck was equally distributed. Last game was fun though.

11 - As noted earlier, Pokes did a good job of recovering from one of the most humiliating losses in school history at USU to finish 5-2 in the MWC. Of course, it didn't hurt that they didn't have to play Utah or BYU anymore.

12 - Pokes actually finished strong this year, which I forgot. Still went 4-8 overall though.

13 - Lost 5 of the last 6, ending the DC and Brett Smith era.

It's been a sad state of affairs. I won't detail the basketball seasons, but they follow a similar pattern, especially under Shyatt (Schroyer's teams generally sucked for the full season).

Some of the seasons are the predictable result of beating a couple of bad FCS or MAC/Sun Belt teams earlier and then hitting reality in MWC play (my fear for this year), but many of them involve impressive OOC and early MWC results which ended in spectacular failure.

But I'm not bitter or anything.....
