On to Appy State.

Over 20 point dogs already. I try to hold out hope that these boys will put together a game and get a W. Can you imagine this place if a w happened? We'd all be shocked, happy, and the fanboys would go nuts with I told you so though none of us will know what they told us?

I want to believe, I do, but man, I just haven't seen anything to give me confidence. Hopefully the D can improve substantially. Even a modest improvement on D will give us a chance in some MWC games.

Come on POKES!! Get that W boys. I don't care about youth or whatever. Suck it up, get some pride, and stick it on them. Losing sucks.

Agreed, this team is 25-point underdogs.....to Appalachian Fuckin' State. I keep telling myself, "there is no way..."

Losing? Of course, I mentioned many times in the off-season that this was a trap game. Now it has morphed into a potential blasting. If we shocked Vegas and won this game, it would go a long way to boosting morale.

No matter how bad we are I'll support the team and watch every game and keep my donations going like I always do but I have zero optimism that this team can beat anyone on the schedule.

If we can beat anyone it will be UNLV but I have us penciled in at 0-12 which really sucks because the last time we laid an egg was 1939: 0-7-1 it's been a long time since we couldn't beat anyone at all but the stars are going to have to align this year for us to pull a W.

I still think the Pokes pull out a win this season…but it won't be in this game. We could be 4-0 at this point, and I'd still be concerned about this game. App State isn't a great football team but they do have some great athletes and speed at the skill positions which spells disaster for our overmatched defense. I hate to say this, but I wouldn't be surprised if App State scores more than 40 in the FIRST HALF. Yes, I'm serious.

Wouldn't surprise me either. EMU put up almost 40 on us at home by halftime. Watching EMU score 5 unanswered TDs will go down as one of the darkest hours of my Cowboy fandom.

Remember when New Mexico beat us for their only win?

I remember that game. ACS, Herron, and Alexander all ran for more than 100 yards but we had a ton of turnovers. Then we beat csewe 44-0 soon after that. It was a bad year but nothing like what's unfolding now.

Consider that we are now +25.5 vs App. state. We are +1750 on the moneyline. That's staggering. I feel stupid for taking us and only getting 21.5. I can't imagine what the line will be when we play Boise state.

35? 40?

Broncos don't tend to be the type to RUTS a lot. If they're up big, Harsin has gone conservative with the backups early.

I'd be surprised if it's more than +35, but then again I'm completely blown away by this +25.5 line for App State. I need to watch highlights of them, they can't be that great...right?

....so apparently App State beat Old Dominion 49-0.

Old Dominion beat EMU on their home field 38-34.

...and of course, EMU beat Wyoming.

A+B does not equal C, but that certainly doesn't look good.

To put it mildly. I never imagined that we would be given basically lottery odds to beat a sunbelt conference team....

the times they are a changin.....

That might change this year if they are lagging behind in the NY6 bid?

Wasn't sure if this was posted elsewhere, but we will be the first nonconference FBS-level team to ever play at Appy State.

maybe that new hurricane will hit that part of the US causing a delluge and we swim away with our 1st win this week

All due respect, you guys should know who you're playing this weekend. App had shut out victories vs Howard and Old Dominion (both 49-0), and besides a disastrous 28 pt 2nd quarter, played pretty well vs Clemson.

Favored as one of the teams in contention to win the Sunbelt this year. Currently ranked #49 by SB Nation, and 6th among G5 schools by ESPN. Coach Satterfield told a reporter he thinks Wyoming will be a tougher test than Old Dominion last week and that you're a much better team than 0-4 suggests. Craig Bohl is one helluva coach, give him time and he'll do great things there.

We started 1-5 last year losing to FCS Liberty so I definitely feel your pain, especially having a history of winning. When Wyo spanked us in 2004 it was App's first game ever running the spread offense, so things were a bit off for us that year.

I'm hoping the weather holds out Saturday. Right now forecast is saying heavy rain and 55*. Looking for a good game. No injuries. You're invited to come join us on our main message board "Yosef's Cabin" available on the tapatalk app or yosefscabin.com. Look forward to it.

I see no possible way we stay within 3 tds of AppState. Zero.

I was going to say, I do think we are better than Howard or Old Dom, but I have nothing to substantiate my claim.

Weather is sometimes an equalizer for passing and athleticism, but looks like you guys run the ball really well. So, I don't know if weather will affect the outcome much at all.

I just perused you site. Read several nice things. I am 100% in Bohl's camp still. I also just believe that, even though young, we shouldn't be losing to teams like ND and EMU. Other schools manage to weather the storms of attrition and rebuild, and still able to keep their dignity.

What is the surface at Appy State? Grass or turf?

If grass, 5+ inches of rain could really slow this game down and send it between the tackles. Advantage is still clearly with the Mountaineers but reducing the dimensions of the offense will help our young defense. Likely not enough to impact the outcome but might make it closer than expected.

Turf. We have returned to a run heavy offense (wild stat I saw on espn this past weekend, after 10 years of everyone going to the spread, 8 or 9 of the top 15 teams are now pro style).

Also, I know no disrespect was meant, but we prefer just App. I can't speak for everyone but I grimace when people say Appy...it sounds like kid speak to me. Also the locals pronounce the school App-uh-latch-un. The App-uh-lay-shuns are a mountain range.

Anyway, for those who may not know, this game can be seen on ESPN3.com, 3:30est.
