And man did I get a special treat! So I went down to FC for the game. After being treated to a special game along with LOTS and I mean LOTS of Wyo fans!!! I ran back to cheyenne.. then got ready and ran over to Laramie for the B ball game.. well I sit down and about 2 min later a guy walks in and sits right next to me.. guess who.. YUP DC!!! we chatted the whole first half and even some at half time in the VIP room.. ANYWAY.. he kept saying how excited he was for the seniors and for the team. Here are a few things we talked about..

1 He pretty much said we did as good as we could with what we have right now and each year we will continue to see the players get much better. I asked him about WR's as I think we all know it was weak for us.. we got a big ole grin and said we will look much different next year. He is really excited about the guys coming in. He also made it sound like we had another guy in last week...that it looked pretty good that we will get him. (not sure who that is?? any ideas)

2. I asked him about the knee of Tooley and he said hes was done this year.. (which we all know) but what I liked he said that kid is going to be good.. he said to make such a huge catch and blow your knee out just goes to show what kind of players we have.

3. He got out his phone and showed me more pictures of the boot.. I think he understands what that means to some of us!!! I loved watching the players look for the boot after the horn!! that was awesome..

4. I loved watching DC act like he was bowling after the CSU game.. man that made me happy!!!

5. Another thing that got me excited was we were talking about ACS.. and he said there were things to work on still but just wait the kid has even more!!! I dont know what more is but I like what we have already seen with that kid.

Anyway DC was way excited and nice to talk with. Met some of his fam and they seem really nice. Im glad we have DC and look forward to what he can do with Wyo in the next few years!

Very cool! Thanks for relaying the conversation to the rest of us. It's good to know that he's as excited as the fans are about the newfound success of the program.

That is a pretty cool thing bullpoke...

Just wanted to throw my two cents in about Friday's game. We were lucky enough to be there, and actually sat not far from the CSU coaches families. They were really loud when CSU had the lead, but really quiet when we had the lead. It was a very interesting dynamic.

Anyway, to your #3, I think DC definitely realizes the importance of that game, and the boot. I went home and watched the post game interveiw on Saturday, and DC sounded like a kid in a candy store holding that boot. It was really cool seeing him be so excited about his team, the game, the boot, and the seniors especially.

And I wanted to give quick props to Sween. I know most of us had issue with him, but I think he's proven to be a class act, even after losing the starting nod. Again, watching the postgame celebrations on my DVR, I noticed the team ran to get the boot and gathered in front of the Wyo section. And who was the one to lead the team in singing Cowboy Joe? Karsten Sween. After all he went through the last four years, he was still into the game, excited to win the boot back, and had the gumption to lead the team in singing Cowboy Joe. Just goes to show what character guys we have on this team, and I hope DC gives him a GA position if he needs one.

It was a great Friday afternoon, and I'm really excited to see this team in a bowl game!!

GO POKES!

Great read, thanks BullPoke. That musta been one hell of a conversation. I'm glad he's personable with the "common" folks. :thumb:

Hey Cheywypoke... Im kicking myself because later that night I was mad with myself for not asking anything about the o line... so... I got nothing on that.. now the D line he is pretty excited for I was suprised at that because I thought we would be losing a lot up front but he thinks some of the kids coming in could step in right away.. (just like this years fr) He pretty much said every kid he goes after better be ready to step in and play. But he likes some of the guys we have and the ones he is bringing in for the D line.. sorry about the o line..

From what I have seen there are a lot of DL recruits/offers and less LB offers. Which has me thinking 2 things.

1-We may be going back the the 4-3. I think we went to the 3-4 because we had more success recruiting LB than DL. Either way we know English has experience with both.

2-I also remember reading last year that they were slow to offer to OL because they felt if an OL kid can't play OL there really isn't anywhere else for them. So some of the DL may be competing for a DL spot and the rest converted later to OL to get some PT.

This is just a causal observation from the distance with no real knowledge of their recruiting strategy, just trying to make sense of it / read something into it.
