Official Bowling Green @ Wyoming game thread

Went to a Montana game last weekend. They set a attendance record up there, over 25,000 I believe.

The atmosphere prior to and after the game was incredible.

They really have a great thing going with their program up there in Missoula.

Glad ya got to come up and see it! If you can believe it, the stadium was louder and crazier for D2 Central Washington today. They came into town ready to play football. 8 NFL scouts were in attendance looking at their QB, WR, and TE. They wanted to see how those three did against competition from a higher level. They exceeded expectations.

I have never been more disgusted with a team than I am right now. Saturday's game vs. Bowling Green was the WORST football I have ever seen played. The team didn't look like a team at all, the coaching staff was calling stupid plays, and without Prosinski our secondary would be nonexistant. Rotating the QB's was the worst thing the coaches could have done for this team, it sucked out what little consistency we had. I have never left a Wyoming game early until this weekend, but by the time turnover #5 happened I had had enough.

I have been a huge Joe Glenn supporter from day 1, but he absolutely has to go. Like most fans, I thought that the offensive problems had been fixed with the firing of Cockhill. I see now that the head coach is the real problem. The recruits we are getting are mediocre, the offense doesn't seem to have any sort of identity, and the team just looks deflated overall. (Fun fact about recruiting, did you guys know that only 2 receivers on the team played receiver in high school?) This will be Glenn's last season, and after the pathetic performance this weekend I wouldn't be surprised if they fired him midseason.

I'm afraid I must agree that Joe Glenn appears to be seeing the end of his career at WY. And if you leave WY doing poorly it does not bode well for your coaching future. The Pokes are so hard to watch anymore at all. Many fans were optimistic before the game, I however thought we would be lucky to win. Little did I know how bad we would be. I did however watch the game on TV after returning home and decided BG looked very good. We would have had to play above our heads to win.

The no tolerance policy for a QB doesn't work. Any successful QB will say that they must have a short memory regarding picks. By jerking them out immediately will not help the situation. Especially when we run out of QB's to throw a pick. I also thought that the same standard should have been applied to Bolling when he dropped a pass and then dropped/tipped another which caused an interception. He should have been pulled for the next series, which he wasn't.

I would like to offer some constructive criticism but I am at a loss. It does seem that now offense and defense are both poorly coached. Most fans feel badly for the players. The players are obviously very loyal to Joe Glenn. I think he is a great guy but maybe he's just not getting the job done. It's tough when the best player (D-Mo) says they are looking forward to going out of town. On a side note, he seems very well spoken, a good leader and a great guy. Anyhow, looking forward to the next home game. If it were not homecoming the stadium would likely be fairly vacant.

What should be done eventually MUST be done immediately! I think Glenn and staff should be shown the saloon door NOW! After watching that horrible performance against Bowling Green my thoughts are:

1. How did we sink this low as a program? It is obvious to me Glenn is just not the guy to run this program. Taking a "zero tolerance" policy with the QB's undermined what little confidence and morale they had. That approach sure worked, didn't it? It just reconfirmed that Glenn and Cole don't have any answers and are now simply taking out frustrations on a mess that is nearly all of their making.

2. Do we win four games this year? That might be wishful thinking after watching the first four games. We could VERY easily be 0-5 right now. Sadly I think we are one of the worst ten teams in the country, especially if you look at our points per game, turnover margin and total offense. That is just not acceptable to me, and shouldn't be for any loyal Wyoming fan. When teams like Duke are looking vastly superior to your team you know something his horribly amiss.

3. Does anyone doubt Glenn's an incompetent after pulling the nepotism card and bringing in OC Cole? What I have seen is as pathetic or worse than Cockhill last year. Didn't think we could be worse, but think we might have outdone ourselves this year. Maybe worst of all, our anemic offense puts great pressure on our Defense and I sense they are once again wearing out. They had a bad day Saturday, and I would venture more of it is exhaustion and lack of confidence than the quality of our players or defensive schemes.

4. I will continue to show pride and support our team. I will be there at the Utah homecoming game. Having lost a bet to a Clemson Tiger fan I will be wearing a huge orange wig for part of the game. Should make me easy to spot. If you take great exception to my opinion or agree, please come say "Hi!".
