That's right, you saw that right. This website now has an official beer. It didn't take much for me to think of this idea, but as I was enjoying some pizza last night at MacKenzie River Pizza Company in Whitefish, MT I ordered beer like I normally do. So I asked what their "seasonal rotator" was. She informed me that the rotator was Buckin' Horse Pilsner. The idea then sprung to mind. This beer, made at Great Northern Brewing in Whitefish, MT was fantastic, and I don't give that distinction to many beers being the beer snob that I am, but it was the most appropriate name I'd ever heard for the official beer of this website. Yes, I know the beer isn't from Wyoming, but damnit, it's called Buckin' Horse, how can we go wrong?? So gentleman (and ladies!) I introduce, Buckin' Horse Pilsner!

Buckin' Horse Pilsner
Style – Bohemian Pilsner
IBU’s (International Bittering Units)– 27
ABV (alcohol by volume)– 5.1%
Malts – Pilsner and Vienna
Hops - Czech Saaz and Aurora
Yeast – Lager
Appearance – straw colored with a thick white head
Description – A European-type pilsner with crisp body and plenty of Saaz hop flavor and aroma topped with a creamy white head.
 
Pilsners are on my goodie list. Lagers and bitters as well. Not much of an ale fan.

Good choice Mr. T, wood be tickled to get to sample one.

Makes two of us, they don't ship it down South to Missoula, so it looks like I have to go to the Flathead to get it. :) Great little pilsner though, one of the best I've sampled.

I think for tailgating purposes this season, you should provide WyoNation adequately.

Nobody pays attention to bootlegging anymore (ever since Smoky & The Bandit made it cross country with a truck-load of Coors).

Just do it. Thanks in advance.
 
So are you saying I should drink enough of it for all of you, or I should truck it down to Laramie for tailgating? :)
 
Dunno if I could feed all you drunks. :) 3-4 growlers should get us started. Now I need to get down to that elusive game in Laramie..

I couldn't get into the brewery to grab a pic of the label, they were closed when I walked by it. And they don't bottle or can it (yet)... and for some reason the website didn't have it.. which is odd. They're still a very new brewery though, so I imagine they'll have pics soon.

Actually, I think the offical beer should be something a bit more "blue collar." Schmidt or Pabst. We're Americans; we drink beer from a can!

Who says drinking good quality beer isn't American???? I am a proud Wyoming Native, and enjoy my beer, but prefer a quality microbrew over a mass produced junk beer anyday.
 
While Pabst is a good recommendation, I just can't get around the fact that it's a dollar for a 20oz can of ... not so good beer. And I'm a beer snob, so I love micros. :)

I prefer Coors Light. Light lager beers don't give me headaches.

Love the PBR, I'm in the Air Force and last summer the base had a sale on PBR for the 4th of July. They had it on sale for $2.95 a 12 pack. I loaded up!

Really though, i'd perfer a microbrew over a Coors anyday. If i'm going domestic, i'm usually going with Bud Lite. If you're ever in Utah check out the Polygamy Porter or the Captain Bastards Oatmeal Stout.
 
I had some Polygamy Porter last time I was in the SLC airport.. good stuff. I love their slogan. What are some of the other breweries in Utah? I know they have a few..

I tried Bud Lite years ago. NOT impressed! Coors Light is good.
 
Did you see the recent national rankings for brewers per state by capita? Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, Colorado, and Vermont were the top 5. Not in that order. Seems to me Utah wasn't much behind that despite their quirky laws.
