Offense

Pro Set....much like what you see on a daily basis in the NFL. This will help Brett get ready to play in the same exact system on Sunday. Defensively you will see a 4-3 with a base Tampa two coverage.

We are all excited to get out of our current mess of a defense. Our current coverage has been play soft as possible and give everything as long as it under 15 yards.

I doubt that changes. Burns was constantly getting burned against boise even with the 15 yard cushion. We don't have the talent at CB to play tight. Unless we get a ton of JC defensive players our defense will be soft for a while.

And that's footballl. The spread thing has been cute, Christensen WAS an innovator at Mizzou, but defenses have figured it out, the exception being freakish talent that just can't be stopped regardless of scheme. The shotgun, the balance, that's going nowhere. Jensen's stats aren't so far off from Brett's. This is going to be a good fit I believe, and NFL scouts will love Brett's experience in a pro style set. He'll have a lot of game experience and game experience in pro set for a 22 yo kid.

I don't get all the people who think the new offensive system will somehow hurt Brett's development and/or misuse his talents. From what I hear, Bohl's offense is similar to Stanford's, and it isn't like they have a recent history of top-flight quarterbacks or anything.

I don't think many people are worried about Brett's development in a pro-style. In fact, I think it can only help him as he can show scouts that he can be effective under center and in the 5-step drop (something Tebow showed he could not learn).

It is also worth noting that Coach B has already indicated to his team that there are several 4 star recruits coming in with him. one in particular is a huge safety 6'3 230ish. I think you will see our defense beef up in a hurry. Many of the players that played will be sitting or warming a place on the scout team if they don't perform. I get this feeling he has no patience for entitled kids!

you have a link for him bringin in 4 star recruits?

Not yet I am simply restating what he told the players in the team meeting yesterday. It is kinda second hand info at this point.

I'm pretty sure he will do fine in the pro-style. If not, I think Thompson is a big enough beast to step up and do it.

Interesting article.........I wasn't aware he had so many stipulations in his contract. I wonder who is paying the 450K buyout of his old salary? http://www.footballscoop.com/news/11026-inside-north-dakota-state-s-efforts-to-keep-craig-bohl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

that clause is unenforceable. Even the NDSU AD admitted it. He probably can't actively recruit their verbals but they can decommit and come with him if they want.

Where are you getting that? The buyout is $100,000 for a position at a non-bcs school.

We still will have the most returning starters on offense in the MWC. It doesn't matter what offense we run we will score a lot of points. My worries are on the D line and secondary.

As far as Tight Ends go, we do have a few large receivers, like Jake Maulhardt (6'6, 215), Eric Nzeocha (6'3, 208 - his brother weighs 235 at the same height, so...), and Nico Brown (6'3, 212), all freshmen/redshirt freshmen. Those guys may be able to play in that role to some extent, at least.

Pop another 10lbs-15lbs on Maulhardt, he may be a good TE.

Apparently Maulhardt is an extremely hard worker in the weight room, and he tweeted that his goal for next season was like 230 or 235 or something like that. He might just be that TE we need.
God 6'6, 235lb TE? Yes please!
