Obi to Baylor

I am surprised that he got that much. I guess it shows how little I know about the going rates for college athletes.

One article I read said Obi was ranked as the 4th best transfer in all of college basketball.

That, to me, is wild.

The kid could hit shots. I think that is why he is rated so high. He is a great shooter.

I think his lack of weight and strength will hurt him at Baylor. Dent from New Mexico struggled in the NCAA tournament with stronger guards and Dent is physically stronger than Obi. On the other hand, there is always room for shooters in today's game.

I actually don't agree with this response. Obi spent his first 3 years proving himself at Northeastern Junior College (JUCO) and Fort Lewis College (D2). We signed him with the understanding he would only be here for 1 year. Then a court case decision gave him an extra year and he is now able to play another year and collect a pretty good sum of cash that Wyoming likely couldn't/wouldn't provide. For a guy like that - all I can say is congrats on your hard work and dedication.

Yep. We will miss him - but we have to move on quickly. At this point, I don't know that we have 5 guys to field a full team with no subs. We can't afford to dwell on one guy that we weren't counting on anyway.

I'll be rooting for him unlike some of the other departures. You're right, a JC guy now at Baylor. Good for him.

Interesting side note to this move: Caden Powell left Rice and also transferred to Baylor
Seems like a bit of a stretch. Powell was very underwhelming while at UW.

I was surprised to see he average 10+ ppg, almost 8 rebound per game, and shot 57% from the field in his year at Rice.
