Has anyone paid close enough attention to see where the defense is slipping through? I'm afraid I haven't, the right side certainly seems common. I'm not sure if its one or two positions or the whole line.

Justin DIRe is already in the two deep and he is a true freshman. However, how much can an o-line improve during a year? I don't believe they can so it is up to our coaches to make an adjustment. ACS can improve on option plays and our play calling can definately improve so there is some hope for improvement that can make the oline look better.

I am curious to see what changes will come on the D line. We are light in weight so what if we tried to put an olineman in just to take up space (magnuson hasn't seen playing time and he is well over 300lbs and there are several other oline men roster members who have not seen time). They will not be as athletic but just one 300 lb plus player could tie up several lineman.

Been wondering that myself. Biezuns and Knapton seem to do alright, just that we can't seem to do much in the middle. So maybe shifting a couple of spare O-linemen to the interior there would help. I would think they would be strong enough, they would just need to work on watching what is going on in the backfield.
 
We do have that transfer from CU that played on the D LIne, but for some reason he is on the OL this his only year.

I heard on the DC radio show tonight that ACS had an average of 2.5 seconds to get rid of the ball before the line collapsed at the Boise State game.

What do you guys think? Are they going to tighten up the gaps to start conference play? They made some big modifications last year about this time that were successful for most of conference play.
 
I don't know. I would guess the average quarterback gets 6 to 8 seconds. Count to 3 and your picking yourself up off the ground. Not much time to make a decision.

They may have too. ACS has proven that he can throw pretty accurately. And the WRs can and do get open. ACS just doesn't really have the time to actually look for a target right now.
 
DC says the ideal time should be 2.8 to 3 seconds. I guess that half second makes a big difference.
 
How much time do you think the Texas and BSU QBs had? I didn't time them, but I'll bet it was at least 6 seconds average (maybe more).

I wish i had paid more attention to his quote yesterday (there was probably some more detail worth noting). On one hand, if you should be making a decision in 2.8 to 3 seconds, and you only have 2.5, you need more time. I guess you'd want the qb to get rid of the ball as soon as he see's someone open. But damn, that doesn't seem like much.
 
DC said yesterday that ACS is getting 2.8 seconds to throw.. which as we've all seen, is not long enough.

Did anybody watch Colts - Giants the other day? I think Eli had about 1 second to throw, and it showed. :rofl:
