Notes from the Cowboy Combine

Apparently Luke Anderson ran a 4.24 40 yesterday. There is a youtube video uploaded about 3 hours ago on it. That is blazzing speed.

 Wow that's fast! I am sure Coach DC is not real happy with the filming of this and the release of this time since it didn't come from him. I saw somewhere where McNeil PR'd in the 40 as well but they didn't report his time.

 Not to be an alarmist but am slightly worried with all of the OL going down. It seems to me that Coach may look at some of the Dlineman as possible converts, or we'll have some true freshman stepping in.

Anyone else read Gag's blog about the O-line? This is not good news. All I've heard from people close to DC is how high he was on our redshirt offensive lineman, and how improved our O-line play was supposed to be this year. We don't even make it into spring ball and already it's being reported that the best of that redshirt bunch (DiRe) is done for good with a medical condition and Fleischman (another redshirt) is out the entire spring and may not even be ready for fall camp.

I've mentioned this before, but I believe DC's lack of both quality and quantity of recruiting at the offensive lineman position will ultimately be his downfall. Not only is the offensive line horrible, but as DC pointed out, it is also going to hinder the development of the defensive lineman.

Man, I had just convinced myself that with the increased athleticism at the skill positions and a stud freshman QB we were going to actually be improved. I think I'll take a wait and see approach instead...

First off, Anderson is fast. We'll see how that translates on the field, but damn.

Also, don't know why many think the sky is falling because we lose one guy to an injury and have another who will miss spring drills. That is two guys....two guys who have never played a down in D1 football. Granted the injury to DRie sucks because he was supposed to be good. Bottom line is we have guys on the shelf all the time during spring drills.

We return 4 starters...two of which were young last year (Carlson and Leonard). Plus, we add the JUCO, Rushing this summer and have added Sumter, who could turn out to be a nice guard. And, guys like Self and Magnussen (sp) have both played and will provide depth. We might not have two deep for spring drills, but we will when the season opens. These guys should be better than last year....hopefully much better.

The sky is far from falling Cowboy fans.

Losing DiRe sucks, but I still think Bogard, Fleishman, and Hinton are quality offensive lineman. I would rather sit Fleishman during the spring so he is healthy for the season.

Is Helamana Semo still on the team? He played well during practices last year (remember when DC had the younger guys scrimmage one another during practice at the end othe year?). He was/is a bit undersized but if put on weight he could be decent.

Here is the video of his 40. Also there is a link to his highlights from playing at Blinn.

The kid is fast. Did you happen to see any other guys run their 40's? Or, perform any other drills? If so, what is your take.

After watching some of the NFL combine, we have some guys with some good measurables. Anderson is damn fast and Nzeocha can jump out of the gym.

This is actually a video that Anderson posted himself. I wish I could have seen the drills done in person but I live out of state.

The things I really liked about his highlight video were speed and the angles he took which will really smart and he wraps up on tackles that is something that will go a long way in securing a spot on the team as a starter.

I just tried to watch the video, and I got the message that the video has been removed by the user.

you missed out

i figured that might happen considering that christensen didn't want the info from the combine getting out before fall

Luke looks like a gym rat. His FB is nothing but him and his other buddies never wearing a shirt. Reminds me of The Man Show's biggest douches, never wears a shirt guy. He is pretty ripped. I thought he looked the most impressive of the DB's I had seen. You could definitely see that closing speed on his highlight reel.

Losing 2 OL's before practice even starts is concerning because we'll probably lose others after it starts. We need to start signing more OL. The lines can never be too deep. If steelers have Pouncey, they win the superbowl!

kid sounds like a heck of a pickup...hopefully he can put the pads on keep playing that fast. Blinn is a very good JC program...I believe that is where Cam Newton went to after cheating at Florida?

Blinn College is where Cam Newton went for juco. Could Anderson also play corner if needed? It seems he would be fast enough.
